With the Winnipeg Blue Bombers needing one more win to clinch first place in the West and the Montreal Alouettes simply aiming to stay injury-free, Rohit Ponnaiya expects the road side to take care of business at Percival Molson Stadium.

Although there aren't many games that matter in Week 21 of the CFL, Saturday's Grey Cup rematch between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes is one of them.

The Als have little to play for in this contest, and the Bombers need a win to clinch first place in the West. Find out why my Blue Bombers vs. Alouettes predictions expect Winnipeg to get the job done in my free CFL picks for Saturday, October 26.

Blue Bombers vs Alouettes prediction

My best bet
Blue Bombers -6.5 (-118 at FanDuel)

My analysis

Considering the Montreal Alouettes are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games and have already secured a first-round bye, it's likely the defending champs will rest key starters this week. Not only will they want to avoid injuries in a meaningless game, but they also won't want to showcase their full offensive playbook against the team they could potentially face in the Grey Cup.

Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers should be highly motivated since a win would lock up first place in the West. Despite Winnipeg coming off a 14-11 loss to the Argos, the Bombers outgained Toronto 361-302 and controlled the ball for more than 34 minutes. Ultimately, a pair of missed field goals and a fumble in the red zone proved costly.

They've had a week to stew on that tough loss so expect them to get back to the form that saw them go 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS beforehand. The Bombers' elite defense leads the CFL in opponent pass efficiency (85.1) and has allowed the fewest passing yards per game (232.7). They should slow down Montreal's aerial attack, especially if the Als rest quarterback Cody Fajardo.

On the other side of the ball, Montreal ranks second-last in the CFL in rushing yards allowed per game (119.4) and yards allowed per carry (5.7). The Als' defense will be in trouble against Winnipeg running back Brady Oliveira, who leads the league with 1,318 rushing yards on 5.8 yards per pop.

I quickly bet Winnipeg on Wednesday morning at -4, and while that number is long gone, the Bombers are still available below that key number of 7.

Blue Bombers vs Alouettes same-game parlay (SGP)

Blue Bombers -6.5

Under 47.5

The spread has swung four points, with many anticipating Montreal to sit key players. However, the total has only ticked down by one.

That's surprising considering the Bombers have allowed just 16.9 points per game over their last 10 contests and that their offense likes to control the clock with their ground game. If the Als rest Fajardo or don't play him for the entire game, it makes sense to parlay the Under along with the Bombers on the spread.
