The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will seek their first win of the season when they head to McMahon Stadium on Saturday to battle the Calgary Stampeders.

Shockingly, Winnipeg has yet to win a game after entering this season as Grey Cup favorites, but my Blue Bombers vs. Stampeders predictions are betting on their struggles to continue in Week 4.

Here are my best free CFL picks for June 29.

Blue Bombers vs Stampeders prediction

My best bet
Stampeders +3.5 (-105 at bet365)

My analysis

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have begun the season on a seriously flat note, going 0-3 both straight up and against the spread. Their offense struggled in the first two weeks of the season, and while Zach Collaros looked more like his usual self last week, his receiving corps is decimated by injuries.

Dalton Schoen is arguably the best wideout in the league but he's now on the IL, joining two-time All-Star Kenny Lawler, plus Keric Wheatfall, who led the team with 111 receiving yards in Week 2. Winnipeg's offensive line has also been shaky, and with Collaros' supporting cast banged up, this usually high-octane attack has a much lower ceiling going forward.

That will make it tough for them to keep pace with a Calgary Stampeders offense that has been impressive. Jake Maier leads the league in adjusted completion percentage (86.4%) and passing grade (93.2) according to Pro Football Focus. Although Maier tends to struggle under pressure, the Bombers are last in the CFL in pass rush win rate (30.9%) and have allowed the most completions of 30+ yards (7).

The Bombers lost two of their best defensive lineman in the offseason, and with end Celestin Haba and tackles Cam Lawson and Miles Fox currently injured, they haven't been able to get a push up front. That was exposed last week when the Lions passed for 398 yards and added another 107 yards on the ground in Winnipeg.

With the Stamps coming off a bye and playing at home, take the points.

Blue Bombers vs Stampeders same-game parlay (SGP)

Stampeders alt spread +3.5

Over 47.5

Brady Oliveira Over 75.5 rushing yards

Although Winnipeg's struggling defense won't be able to keep Maier in check, I don't have much faith in Calgary's defense either. The Stamps rank last in the league in both yards allowed per play (7.82) and yards allowed per game (410.5), generating just one sack in the process. That has me leaning towards the full game Over on Saturday.

With Winnipeg's receiving corps hurting, expect the Bombers to lean more on running back Brady Oliveira, who led the CFL with 1,534 rushing yards last year. While Oliveira finished with 64 yards on just nine carries last week, he was returning from a knee injury that sidelined him in Week 2.

Oliveira should receive a heavier workload against a Stamps stop unit that is currently allowing a league-worst 120.5 rushing yards per game (6.7 yards per carry).
