Lions vs Stampeders Prediction, Picks, & Odds for Week 7

The Lions have been mauling opposing defenses all season, and our CFL picks don't see any reason why the Stampeders will slow them down in Week 7.

Week 7 in the CFL wraps up on Sunday night with a clash between the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders. The Leos are 5-1 thanks to the league's best offense and my CFL picks for this West Division showdown expect that high-octane attack to keep rolling.

Here are my best free Lions vs. Stampeders predictions for July 20.

Lions vs Stampeders prediction

My best bet
Lions Team Total Over 28.5 (-115 at Bet99)

My analysis

Led by MOP favourite Vernon Adams Jr., the BC Lions are an offensive juggernaut. They lead the league in yards per game (428.7), passing yards per game (362.2), yards per play (7.43), and first downs per game (23.2).

That explosive attack has been on full display in their last two games, with the Leos putting up 35 points against the Roughriders last Saturday and dropping 44 versus the Ticats in Week 5. There are two areas where this offense hasn't been firing on all cylinders: their pass blocking, where they've surrendered 12 sacks, and their ground game, where they average a modest 4.4 yards per carry.

However, those weak links won't be exploited by a Calgary Stampeders defense that ranks dead-last in sacks (4) and yards allowed per rush (6.2). Calgary's stop unit is also last in yards allowed per play (8.4), and first downs allowed per game (24.2), while surrendering 306.4 passing yards per game.

The Stampeders gave up 469 yards and 30 points to the Als in Week 5 before getting torched for 460 yards and 41 points against the Bombers last week. Bet on them to get lit up again and take the Over on BC's team total.

Lions vs Stampeders same-game parlay (SGP)

Lions team total Over 28.5

Justin McInnis Over 5.5 receptions

Jake Maier Over 255.5 passing yards

Justin McInnis hauled in 10 of 13 targets in Week 5 against Hamilton before reeling in all 14 of his targets for 243 yards versus Saskatchewan last week. While that level of production isn't sustainable long-term, getting 6+ receptions seems likely. Especially with Adams missing his other favorite big-bodied receiver in Jevon Cottoy.

As dangerous as BC's offense has been, their defense has been vulnerable against the pass. The Lions are second-last in the league in opponent completion percentage (71.5%) while surrendering 289.8 ypg through the air.

Jake Maier is coming off a 316-yard performance against the Bombers and he completed 26-of-33 passes for 339 yards versus the Leos in Week 2. I'm betting on the Lions to put up plenty of points, which should lead to the Stamps airing it out as they try to keep pace.
