These teams look different from their last meeting, and this Battle of Ontario should see the favorites in more of a fight than books think.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Ottawa Redblacks in CFL action on Saturday afternoon. After four years of being at the bottom of the CFL standings, the surging Redblacks have the second-best record in the league.

That said, I'm fading them in my Redblacks vs. Tiger-Cats predictions for Week 15. See why I'm betting on the Ticats with my CFL picks for this East Division clash on Saturday, September 14.

Redblacks vs Tiger-Cats prediction

My best bet
Tiger-Cats +4.5 (-115 at Bet99)

My analysis

The Ottawa Redblacks are coming off a 41-27 blowout win against the Argos and have the second-best record in the CFL at 8-3-1. However, that puts their stock in a sell-high position this week against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who are better than their 3-9 record would suggest.

Keep in mind that when these teams clashed in Week 4, the Redblacks won on a last-second field goal at TD Place. They've gone 6-0-1 at home but are 2-3 on the road, and they're heading to Hamilton to face a Ticats squad fresh off a bye. Ottawa also just lost All-Star returner DeVonte Dedmon and stud right tackle Zack Pelehos to injuries and released the CFL's fourth-leading rusher in Ryquell Armstead.

Despite having the worst record in the CFL, the Ticats have outgained their opponents in eight of 12 contests. The primary reason the Tabbies were losing earlier in the year was because they were shooting themselves in the foot with sloppy turnovers.

However, they've shown better ball security in recent weeks, which resulted in an upset win against the Argos in Week 13 and a close loss to the Bombers in Winnipeg in Week 12. If quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell can continue to take care of the ball here, the Ticats should cover.

Redblacks vs Tiger-Cats same-game parlay (SGP)

Tiger-Cats +4.5

Over 50.5

Dominique Rhymes Over 58.5 receiving yards

The Redblacks struggle on defence away from home, surrendering 34.6 ppg on the road compared to 19.6 ppg at TD Place. With defensive anchor Jovan Santos-Knox on the IL along with DE Bryce Carter and two starters in the secondary, Ottawa's defence could be even worse here.

Hamilton's offense is filled with playmakers, which has resulted in the Ticats leading the league in net offense (392.2 ypg) and yards per play (6.92). However, their leaky defence is sixth in yards allowed per play (6.55) and seventh in opponent pass efficiency (103.4).

That should lead to success for Ottawa's attack and QB Dru Brown. Ottawa is banged up at WR with a pair of starters sidelined by injuries, but that should mean even more targets for Dominique Rhymes, who hauled in 10-of-14 targets for 138 yards last week.
