A lengthy layoff did little to weaken the top three La Liga betting favorites as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Sevilla all emerged victorious in their first games back following the Spanish League's restart. They all strengthened their respective places in the La Liga standings, and look to remain hot as all 20 Spanish clubs prepare for the first of two quick turnarounds that will see each of them play three league games in a nine-day span.

La Liga Predictions for Matchday 29
Levante v. Sevilla
Monday, June 15 - 1:30 pm ET
It might be too late for Sevilla to surge into contention for the Spanish League title, but they’re intent on hanging onto the No. 3 spot in the table – and they solidified their standing with an impressive 2-0 victory over visiting Real Betis in their return to play. They’re comfortably favored to keep their hot streak going Monday against a hosting Levante side that was lucky to escape with a 1-1 draw at Valencia, thanks to Gonzalo Melero’s 97th-minute penalty goal.
The degree of difficulty climbs considerably even with the benefit of home-field advantage. Not only are Sevilla unbeaten across all competitions since Feb. 9, but they’ve had their way with Levante in recent encounters, winning each of the past four meetings by a combined score of 15-3. Coupled with Sevilla having scored 2+ goals in each of their last five league matches, the conditions are ripe for the Sevilla/O2.5 play to cash in.
Pick: Sevilla and Over 2.5 goals (+137)
Barcelona v. Leganes
Tuesday, June 16 - 4 pm ET
With Barcelona the heaviest favorite of Matchday 29, bettors shouldn’t be surprised to see plenty of money come in on the defending champions as they seek a second straight post-hiatus win Tuesday against visiting Leganes. Barca didn’t miss a beat last time out, cruising to a 4-0 victory over Mallorca – and they’re at a whopping -600 against a Leganes side that has won just one of its previous eight head-to-head meetings with Barcelona.
While the Barca moneyline and props will see a lot of action, we’re bucking the trend here. While Leganes needed an 84th-minute penalty to get on the board in last week’s 2-1 setback to visiting Valladolid, they’ve scored at least one goal in four consecutive league meetings with Barca – and with Camp Nou losing some of its bite due to the stands being empty, we could see Leganes doing just enough offensively to spoil Barcelona’s quest for a clean sheet.
Pick: Leganes total goals: One (+175)
Real Valladolid v. Celta Vigo
Wednesday, June 17 - 1:30 pm ET
Goals could be hard to come by Wednesday as Real Valladolid host Celta Vigo in a showdown between two of the lowest-scoring teams in the Spanish League. Valladolid looked good in their return to action last time out, upending Leganes 2-1. Celta Vigo wasn’t as fortunate, dropping a 1-0 decision to Villarreal for their third straight match without a goal. And if that weren’t enough to cinch the Under, these teams played to a scoreless draw in their last encounter.
Yet, while goals will likely be at a premium, it’s worth keeping an eye on Celta Vigo star Iago Aspas. He was a non-factor in the loss to Villarreal but is far and away Vigo’s biggest scoring threat, and had four shots (three on target) in that 0-0 tie back on Nov. 29. Celta Vigo need a win in the worst way, as they look to avoid falling into the relegation zone, and for them to get those three points, they’ll need Aspas to convert. We like his chances.
Pick: Iago Aspas anytime goal (+200)
Deportivo Alaves v. Real Sociedad
Thursday, June 18 - 1:30 pm ET
Real Sociedad’s chances of a Top-3 finish in the 2019-20 La Liga standings took a major hit with last week’s 1-1 home draw with Osasuna, but they won’t have to wait long to make amends as they visit CD Alaves on Thursday. Sociedad are modest favorites in this one, despite having earned 10 of a possible 12 points in their last four encounters with Alaves, holding them without a single goal over that span. Alaves are winless in three matches to fall to 15th overall.
Recent history might not compel you to take Sociedad here, but we have at least one more reason – and it’s a big one. The visitors average just 1.89 yellow cards per game on the season (fewest in La Liga) and were carded just once in the draw with Osasuna. Alaves, on the other hand, are averaging the third-most yellow cards (3.18) and were torpedoed by a 19th-minute red card in last week’s 2-0 loss to Espanyol. Take Sociedad at a decent return.
Pick: Real Sociedad (-106)
