anyway back to this fight...i saw the odds today and it was -130 for vernon... didnt see a round prop but wasnt really looking so maybe i missed it
i just cant get past the idea that i think baldomir is just a crap fighter that got lucky he fought a guy that took a night off and a guy that you cant miss with punches and he got 2 big wins
vernon isnt the vernon of old but i still think he is better than baldomir

Forrest Quartey was very close and could have gone a different way. I had Forrest, Boxeo had Quartey and Boxeo thought it was a robbery. It was close, but...
This is a completely different matchup. There was a time Quartey was considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world (see 2/98 Ring magazine, in which I was published). Baldomir never even came close to that type of credibility.

I'm not sure on a winner, leaning more & more towards a Total, or possibly both Decision Props parlayed correctly.

Wow, I couldn't believe it when I pulled up this thread and saw so many responses. A lot of covers love for two over the hill guys. I played Forrest on the one of the early numbers put out at 5dimes and I get the feeling that he wins a 116-112ish decision.
I know that some you are over at Matchbook now, but 5dimes is the place to be for early odds on fights. Yes they have a low maximums for you high rollers (Alwayswin), but you can't beat some of the numbers that they hang before anyone else. I thought I was dreaming when I saw Forrest at +250 and was smiling from ear to ear when I got +220.
As long as Forrest's shoulder holds up I think he should be able to control the distance against Baldomir with his jab and outclass him over the distance. Definitely won't be an early night here. Both guys are a weight class above their optimal weight and Baldo's head is like an anvil.
One thing is for sure; this is not the type of fight that should be featured on Boxing After Dark; a series that is trying to get back to it's roots of putting on exciting fights with younger fighters. My favorite web writer Steve Kim actually wrote a good piece on this earlier in the week and made a list of fights he would like to see featured on BAD in the future. Yeah, I will definitely be at the FSU game, don't know about BC though. I am also headed to the VT game and the wife and I will probably head over to Atlanta for the GT game, that is the one road game that I never miss. Great stadium to watch a game in, especially at night.
Should be interesting to see how the QB situation plays out over the first couple of weeks.

I agree the fight will go over, the smart thing we can do is place a 100 bet on forrest by dec and baldy by decision, and thats it . Forrest is -170 now at 5dimes. Sorry to be so rude Alwayswin, you were right.

I do not live in Vegas, but my experience has been with these types of fights you are lucky if you get a total let alone outcome props, in Reno or Vegas.

Personally I think Forrest is done..I felt that he lost to Quartey but was awarded the decision. Baldomir was never a world class fighter but he was always tough. I'm probably going to stay away from this fight but knowing me I might just throw in a Baldomir by decision and see how it goes. He is tough and durable and if hes able to pressure FOrrest like the way mayorga pressured him. He can easily win a decision. Forrest hasnt been the same since his 1st lost to mayorga. His 2nd fight vs mayorga he fought scared. so maybe Baldy can get into his head although he does not have the power that mayorga has.

Thanks for the all the up-to-date information gentlemen. I usually stay away from the city [strip], but will do some rounds perhaps tomorrow to see what some books are offering. One would probably have to parlay the winner and over/under to create one's own prop [ex. Forrest to win -135 + OVER -175].
