I want to add my thoughts now as I don't think I'll be able to come the weekend when all the action and opinions will be flying at hight speed, and I'll try to keep it brief. First off, I want to state that I have been BEGGING for an underdog to step up and win one of these hight profile fights, it seems like for the past 3 or 4 years the favorite just finds a way to win, steal or what have you the victory. Sure, there have been a few dogs to come through, but the HBO record for underdogs is terrible. So with that said, of course I'd like to see Cotto pull it off, but not for the "due" reason. I believe styleswise, he has a legit shot. Pacman, fighting from the southpaw stance to begin with, is a bit of an unorthodox fighter to say the least, and at times is also one-dimensional (although to his credit he is working on adding more weapons to his arsenal, like a right hook). I always thought that the kind of style that would at least give him problems is a pure technically sound fighter (high hands, textbook punches, good balance, good leverage, with stamina, heart and adaptability). Many would think Mayweather fit the bill best. I disagree. Although Money is an exceptional fighter and probably would pose a problem for a fighter such as Manny, I don't think the style would be as problematic as the one Miguel posesses. Cotto is the consumate seek and destroy fighter. He applies effective aggression, but can also counter punch, always holding his hands high. His punches are textbook, utelizing maximum leverage when delivering a blow. Never out of balance he can catch you coming in, or going out. I think Cotto at +200 and above is very playable. The deterents of course are what the Margarito beating took out of him, and the fact he's looked less than stellar in his last couple of fights. I believe inspiration will override any of these factors and fuel Miguel to at least give an exceptional fight. Not a blowout loss like the one Hatton gave us. Manny is awesome, but we can always hope his handlers have picked the wrong opponent this time.
Cotto +215 for a bit
Over 9.5 rounds +115 for bit more
Thanks for reading, and good luck to all gamblers, always.
