Don't really think Tyson could ever be considered Top 10 pound for pound EVER. Hard to really put him in the Top 10 Heavyweights. If so, it would be the bottom half. Remember, Iron Mike only really had 6 good years then got his ass handed to him in the 90's. Don King ruined him.
The guy was a time-bomb no matter what. Yes, Don King did the same to him as he did to others.. Screw them Over! Mike Tyson was the first to unify the big three (WBA,WBC & IBF). Although the IBF wasn't major until 1984. The WBO was around 1989 and the only person that won a WBO title at the beginning that I was impressed with was Michael Moorer. I'm sure it's quoted somewhere but I remember Emanuel Steward stating to Michael Moorer at light heavyweight that he would be a champ within one year of his pro-debut and he did on his 12th fight. Moorer was 22-0 at light heavyweight with all knockouts and then he added 4 more straight KO wins at heavyweight (26 straight KOs). Back to Mike Tyson (AKA: Iron, The Baddest Man on the Planet, Mighty), his nearly 4 year championship reign was impressive with 9 title defenses and 6 were all three belts. After prison Mike wasn't the same, but it was just icing on the cake. He even stated he lost his passion for boxing before that. Even Ali wasn't the same although he produced some of his greatest fights after his forced retirement. Ali was so fast prior to Frazier it was menacing to opponents. Tyson brought a fear to other heavyweights that only Liston produced, the only man Foreman said he feared.
When we discuss heavyweights and greatest pound-for-pound, one of the greatest accomplishments in sports history was Joe Louis being champ nearly 12 years with 25 title defenses, that is truly astonishing. I had to add that in there as I'm sure most are aware of it but no one seemed to mention it.

It did become off topic and I do apologize to those you were mislead in reading a thread from "Top Ten Fighters Of All Time" to a thread about books, conspiracy, etc... as I became a part of the cluster. Although it doesn't hurt to maybe turn someone's attention as many times we find some of the most intersting and valuable things where we aren't looking, but I doubt we accomplished that - LOL!
ZiggyDawg: Not including other divisions, where did you place Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Robinson, Moore, Greb, Chavez...? Tommy was exciting and a great fighter, but I just named 7 fighters off the top that most people will rank above him just to make a point. Tommy was great, but not close to top 10! Also, I felt sad to seem him fighting at cruiserweight 5 years ago knowing he has brain damage... How do the people who promote these fights live with themselves.
