While I agree with the culture of Marist, they can't get any worse than last year with pretty much everyone returning (although by the looks of it currently, it may be possible). Two reasons I didn't touch the game:

1) You'll never see me lay big chalk. I can't remember the last time I laid more than -10 in basketball, if ever. That crosses off any point in my case of taking Belmont here.

2) Belmont will have maybe 7-8 games lined all year. I still look at them for future purposes, but not enough focus of time and effort can be put forth unless the situations merits it to study a team when 75% of the time, I won't be able to bet on them.

I guess a third item that really means nothing in the grand scheme of things is that this is the first time in recent history Belmont's been anything close to a double digit favorite, and one could argue you don't know how they're going to respond, obviously, they are responding well.

Those are just my reasons. Others will vary. In a long season, I focus more on whats ahead in the coming weeks, the coming months, etc...What you learn now, can come in even more handy in the future.

Didn't have a feel. Officially off Oklahoma games until I see them enough. In a way, can't trust their offense. In another way, their defense should be good. Kentucky can take two approaches, letdown or clobber. Can't make an argument for either side really.

11/22 Results: Hampton continues to play at or near 100. Wichita State will be a better squad towards the end of the year. Nevada will continue to play at a much slower pace, probably not much more value down the road. Loyola CHI still on a roll. ODU/Xavier defensive battle as suspected. Washington and Michigan State both winners in hopes of seeing a title game with both squads. And Winthrop actually scored 80+.

Sides: 10-2, +9.80
Totals: 4-1, +2.90
DNP: 5-3

11/23 Notes: Ohio should be very talented this year as I have them pegged at or near the top of the East Division of the MAC. They lost a bit, but return enough talent and athleticism to roll through conference yet again. Valporaiso, on the other hand, lost a few shooters, but anytime your squad is coached by Homer Drew, you are going to shoot the ball well. Both teams have put the ball in the hole quite a bit this year, and both squads defense of a year ago should see only minimal improvement. I’m interested in this game, but not for tonight’s purposes. I want to see how Valpo responds on the road against a similar squad b/c first week of December they go to UIC (winnable), Loyola CHI (winnable), and Toledo (winnable). A loss here adds value to those spots, hopefully. I am also interested in Lafayette bouncing back from two slow pace games in Creighton and Cleveland State in going to up-tempo here to Houston. Lafayette was able to hang with Creighton and Cleveland State in defensive ball games but the only game they’ve gotten out and ran was New Mexico State, and they got ran out of the gym. Team lacks offensive talent as I’ve stated numerous times. Houston on the other hand brought in a former Texas Tech coach in Dickey, so I expect their up and down style to not change too much. They lost at Louisiana Tech who I would compare to Lafayette in the fact that neither squad is all that offensive minded, but that was a road game and this is a home game. If I laid chalk, this might be the spot to do it. Curious to see how Wisconsin MKE bounces back after a big win at Northern Iowa. More so, I’m interested in the total. Western Michigan scored 22 in a half against Loyola CHI @ home in it’s last outing before falling behind and having to chuck shots in the 2H only to score 42, which is far above the norm. Western Michigan lacks outside shooting with the loss of Mr. Everything in Kool. Both teams match up extremely well, with a bit more emphasis on post play outside of Boyle who is red hot. These teams play the exact same style of basketball, and that should lead to less points...
