Some of the above ratings have changed slightly. I just used what was in my Fla write up notes. Buffalo now #37, they weren't close to that at the time. You get the idea. WV hasn't played anybody but Florida, and if you read my write up you know I had a big play on the Gators and under.
Assists. Turnovers
Esa Ahmad. 17 23
Sags Konate. 11 16
Beetle Bolden. 18 13
Brandon Knapper. 20. 21
As a team WV has 126 assists and 122 turnovers. ![](https://images.covers.com/covers/emoticons/an_eek2.gif)
I don't know much but I do know that when you are giving the ball to the other team it is not good. The top 3 players above are WV's best players. Huggins has been trying frosh Knapper at the pg, he probably has the most upside but he is small. He has had some good moments and some really bad ones. Frosh pg McCabe only played the last 9 minutes against Fla. Bolden has been playing a lot at pg but he is better suited as the 2 guard, he is their best 3 point shooter. Harler has been starting at the 2, plays hard but he has been struggling shooting the ball.
Sags Konate is now questionable for this game. Huggy Bear said today "I don't think Sags can go, he didn't practice onThursday. His game has declined because he has't practiced."
Last 2 years he has been a shot blocker deluxe. Great athletic ability with quick twitch jump, real springy. But that has not been the case this year. He has been battling a knee injury. He has bulked up to much, looks to me like he has been going thru the McDonalds drive thru to much and when they ask him if he would like it super sized he says gimme 3.
Bolden has missed lots of practices too. He has had multiple injuries. Started out with strained ligaments in his shooting hand. Got stitches over his eye. Injured his elbow, then got a lower leg injury. Dude is a scrapper, dives for loose balls, dives into the stands, takes charges, etc. But he has a lightweight frame.
Note that Ahmad and Konate declared for the NBA draft last spring but both returned. Good advice from somebody. Ahmad has played a lot during his career but has been inconsistent. Huggins said "Esa is struggling. Before, we could live with Esa struggling because we had other players. Now, we need him to be consistent but he has been anything but."
If anybody has been following my threads they know I have been repetitively harping on WV's poor play at the guard position. I said the Gators would have 4 athletic guards better than any WV has and they did. WV sorely misses Jevon Carter (Now with the Memphis Grizzlies) and Daxter Miles (now playing overseas). That is why they are no longer Press Virginia. They don't have the athleticism to go full court pressure non stop for 40 minutes. Huggins says we are "still searching".
Consider this, WV had only scored 7 points in the first 13 minutes of the second half.
They had a mini rally when Harler came off the bench and hit 3 bombs in a row (That was a first) to make it interesting. But the Gators closed the deal. In fact, they lead box to wire.
Pitt is not a top flight team by any means. They feasted on 5 lightweight cupcakes to open the season. Have beat a decent St Louis team, had a shot to win at Iowa and lost by 1. They got beat by 17 point dog Niagra much to the chagrin of many in this forum. That also works in our favor. With 5 days off you can be assured Jeff Capel has had their attention.
This is a heated border rivalry where some crazy sh+t has happened thru the years and could very well happen again tomorrow. The Coliseum will be full and rowdy as Hel!. But I have been playing against WV from the git-go and I am going to keep fading the Mountaineers until I get my azz burnt real good. Give me the Panthers plus the points as a Live Dog in Morgantown.
