1/22 Results: Bloodbath. Little change of scenery here...

1/23 Notes: NC State's losses this year have all come to top 50 teams at one point: Georgetown, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Arizona, Boston College, Florida State, and Duke. Miami FL's lone road victory came against Florida Gulf Coast. I think it should be a pretty good game, should have plenty of intensity with a chance at a win at stake with desperation. Typically, in any game involving Wisconsin, first team to 60 is going to win. They've not looked good in any of their away games aside from the Marquette game, and their defense has not travelled well. Realistically, they have two options offensively, despite being an efficient offense. Relying on two players will only take you so far, and in a road game, you need a bit more than that. As for the Northwestern offense, they will struggle a bit I think. Their offense isn't really built on going up against a defense that takes little risks and almost never gets out of position. It's a pretty big statement game for Northwestern if they're wanting to stick around in the B10. Miami OH is coming off a pretty big rivalry victory over Akron and now travels on the road where they've been awful. No clue how Kent State rebounds from an embarrassing loss last time out. Probably best to leave this one alone, but I do value KSU a bit higher. Bradley has now lost eight in a row, and this defense has been putrid. Furthermore, the only game they care about left on their schedule is the home game rivalry in Illinois State. Evansville's offense plays a lot better at home and they should have plenty of opportunities to score here. On the other side, Bradley will take advantage of Evansville's weakness which is defending guards who like to get in the lane. Evansville doesn't match up with Warren all that well, and the other guards will struggle to get in the lane. On the inside, Evansville doesn't have a presence to stop them either. I really think it comes down to one thing, and that's ISU coming in Wednesday. It might hurt the offense, might hurt the defense, just depends. No interest in USF/WVU. I value CMU a bit over EMU, but the game just isn't appealing. CMU will more than likely be without Thomas, and the offense looked anemic even in an up and down game with Northern last time out. These are two teams who come into this game relying on one player to produce. Both should put up good #'s, role players will tell the difference. At some point, Butler is going to come out and wax somebody, and this situation sets up pretty nice for that to happen. They have immediate revenge from an embarrassing loss from a few weeks ago and catch a MKE team who is on the second of a two game roady, the first game being a big loss in which they scored 43 points just two days ago. Butler's got a rough stretch ahead, but they should be able to take care of business here. If you don't think this team is thinking about that early game with MKE, go ahead and check out the Cleveland State outing which came immediately after that. No interest in Valpo, they have Butler and CSU on deck. I rate Indiana a tad higher, but coming off a physical Wisconsin team, it might take a bit to get going if Iowa continues to run as it has. Iowa is 0-6 in the conference, but they've played all tough teams and have yet to play a lesser. I think this game has potential for a ton of points, but again, concerned with Indiana coming of Wisconsin. I'm going to take a chance on Southern Illinois based on matchups. A few SIU players will be playing close to their hometown as well, so I expect a good showing. ISU has revenge from a previous meeting this year, but they shot 50% from the floor (one of the few times this year), and still lost. In fact, SIU was outshot in every category possible and still won the game. Again, we have the lookahead to the ISU/Bradley rivalry. I like St. Peter's, but I fear for a pretty big offensive letdown after an emotional nationally televised game on Friday and short turnaround. No interest in Iona/Canisius. And no clue how Niagara scores on the Iona defense, with or without Mason & Edwards.
