Matchup nightmare for Michigan,,,,,wrong team favored.....thank you Michigan for beating a crappy Florida team...who did Florida play to get to the elite 8???? a 14 a 11 and a 15 seed..... Michigan will get a beating in this game...Take Syracuse Money line...best bet of the tourny

Man Kansas should have beaten them 2 games ago...f_ck these 3 point shooting hacks. Wait until their 3 point shooting leaves them at the wrong time, the whole game will turn to sh*t.

This is such an unintelligent posts its obsurd. Heres a real breakdown for you:

Michigan is a highly efficient team. They don't turn the ball over, they have shooters all over the floor, and they work well together.

The teams that Cuse has beaten shot poorly, turned it over, and looked out of sync. Its tough to do that to Michigans O.

To beat Cuse, you need penetration on O to breakup the zone, and shooters that can hit open shots once the penetration happens. The Michigan guards are extremely unselfish and are great passers. They have a ton of assists, and everyone on the team averages a high amount of assists. Look for them to spread the ball a lot on Cuse and they will open up and exploit the zone. Add on that 3 great 3 point shooters and you've got a serious threat to Cuse.

Indy had all of what this last post says, and look what happened to them, scored a whole 40 pts for a season low total. Indy is a better "team" than Michigan is and Michigan's luck will run out next weekend and this momentum they have will be gone by then.  Today they simply rode the momentum high from the comeback against Kansas and caught Fla off guard, and if you watched the game, Fla just could not buy an open look in the first half, and once they got down big it was too much to comeback from and then gave up with 15 mins left. Mich coudln't miss a shot and no way they shoot even close to that good , especially from 3land, against Cuse. Cuse ML to the bank!

First off Michigan is a great team to face the zone and they, unlike other teams will have 5 days to prepare for it.

It is tougher when you have not seen it, but Belien has at least seen it before playing against it in his days at WVU when they were in the big east.

In order to beat a zone, its a myth that you just need to be good shooters, otherwise indiana would have easily beat them.  Sure Marquette and Cal were garbage shooting teams, actually garbage teams in general.

Is IU better than Michigan, sure you could say that, they beat them twice but its not about that because they arent playing each other.  Its all about the matchups.

IU does not match up well despite their shooting against a zone for a couple reasons.  1. their coach is a moron  2. they dont have agressive bigs.  Zeller is not an agressive big, he is frail and weak who is only good at tip ins off offensive boards.  the michigan ship is different.  mcgary and morgan are agressive wider bodied bigs who can attack.  while jordan hulls can shoot and yogi ferrell will be good, they dont attack seams anywhere near trey burke level or tim hardaway jr level.

the biggest thing if you want to compare indiana and michigan to playing cuse besides the coaching advantage to michigan schematically is this.....indiana doesnt win slow paced games.  teams like ohio state, wisconsin, temple, and as you saw cuse who play half court games give them trouble or just flat out beat them.  michigan would rather run sure, but they have zone "beaters" because they not only have the shooters in stauskas burke and hardaway but they have guys who can penetrate the lane and kick out or agressive bigs who will attack.

look at siva and russ smith as examples of that.  and look at how carter-williams has struggled against thief like guards defending him, like trey burke will be.

Well said!  and for the guru's post... Indiana does not have Trey Burke who will penetrate the zone with confidence and give Carter-Williams fits all game and I fully expect McGary to have 20 and 10 every game from here on out

C'mon. Teams try to prepare for it for years and still can't execute when it's time. You think Marq never saw the zone? Buzz has been playing against it for years. First off It will be a nightmare for mich to stop Syr. Burke won't be able to defend MCW at all and the fwds face major mismatches against Fair and Southerland. and burke will not get the open looks hes used to against the smaller bigten guards with 6'6" guy in his face nor will stauskas who will have a pair of 6'9" fwds coming at him in the corners. Man you really don't know what you're talking about son. Did you not see Syr beat L'ville at L'ville? Apparently not. And mich will not be penetrating anything except maybe their gfs after the game. They will get suffocated by the zone .
Mich bigs are nothing compared to what Cuse has faced all year in the big east, they won be attacking anything. theyll  have nowhere to go and will turn it over when trying to kick it back out thinking there will be an open pass lane there only to see the pass taken away by Cuse's guards.  As far as coaching , crean is heads and shoulders better than belein. He will feel like he was back at LeMoyne college

Michigan wins. Reason being they will have by far best player on court. Also they have one of best turnover differentials in country. People bring up michigan shoulda lost to kansas. Well who the hell did cuse beat besides indiana. They looked awful against cal and marquette is not a good team. Trey burke as shown today can beat any type of defense. This kid is like chris paul. If u play zone he will penetrate and kick to deadly shooter. If u play man he will torch u by gettin to whereva he wants on court. Gimme michigan here all day

Beilein was WVU for 5 seasons and went 0-6.  I would say he has no idea how to coach against the zone.  You think 5 days is going to make a difference?

Every team in the Big East is chock full of aggressive, wide bodied bigs who attack.  You think Syracuse is not used to facing them?

You're putting a lot of stock into Hardaway and Burke penetrating the zone and dishing to Stauskas the same way Hoosier fans put stock into Yogi and Oladipo penetrating the zone and dishing to Hulls.
