What I said was true look at all the guys that continue to disbelieve in michigan and lose a bankroll bc of it rather than actually handicapping! Kansas was the right side all other games michigan dominated! Just as impressively as cuse and Louisville! Funny Florida is now overrated after they lose?

C'mon. Teams try to prepare for it for years and still can't execute when it's time. You think Marq never saw the zone? Buzz has been playing against it for years. He will feel like he was back at LeMoyne college

Not many teams have the all around shooting capability Michigan has need to beat the Cuse 2-3 zone. What he was saying is, other teams with only one day in between have a hard time getting people in the right places, and even if they do they still have to hit the shots. Thats a lot to ask to do both (get in the right place/hit shots)....

MCW doesnt need defended...he will probably shoot Cuse right out of this game....

What's interesting about this thread is that all that is being talked about is Syracuse's amazing zone defense and nothing is being said about their woeful offense. Here are the averages from their last 3 tournament games: 60.7 points per game, 40.3% shooting from the field, 35.1% from the 3 point stripe, 4.3 three pointers a game, 66.2% free throw % (which will especially hurt them because they won't go to the line very often playing Michigan who commits the fewest fouls in college basketball), 6.7 assists per game (that is not a mistype), offensive rebounds 9.0 per game (3 less than season average) and 11.7 turnovers per game ( the only good thing they are doing right now but matches up against a Michigan squad who commits the fewest turnovers in college basketball). Bottom line, Syracuse's offense this tournament has been rather spotty and I think they'll have a hard time beating Michigan whose offense is clicking on all cylinders unless they made a vast improvement on these numbers.

It's just amusing to see how confident Michigan backers are that a coach who has ZERO history of coaching a victory against a this zone will all of a sudden concoct a magic elixir in five days.

It's equally amusing that they will bet on a bunch of freshman to stay hot after a five day break and have the game of their lives against a defense that has been CRUSHING teams for the past three weeks.  What do you think is easier to sustain?  Hot shooting or a suffocating zone defense?

If Syracuse doesn't run out of gas on offense and blow a 16 point lead vs. Louisville in the 2nd half of the Big East Championship after playing 4 games in 4 nights, then we are talking about them winning 8 in a row and being the hottest team in basketball.  I'm glad they didn't, because now the Cuse can fly under the radar while Burke and company can get all the hype.

I agree with this.  The absolutely throttled Indiana and should of won by more than 11.  The let them hang around the 10 point mark where I kept thinking they were going to go on a run and make it a game.............didn't they cut it to 5 points in the second half?

I cant tell you folks how much I love reading your "certainty," and banter...it starts off each day with laughter.  And like most sporting events, bout half of you will win and half will lose...

If only the coaches could play the games, huh? All that experience might actually be worth something.  These kids, and that they are, have a game plan drilled into their heads all week (and yes, 5 days to prepare does make a HUGE difference in a sporting event for those of you who never made it into the game or listened in practice!?!?  REALLY?? No difference, huh? snicker snicker...silly rabbit!) and, most of the time, they do their best to go out and execute.  But just like a Dr calls his confidence a "practice," a game "plan" is just that, and rarely goes the way you expect, which is "why they play the game."  Where have i heard that before...

As a Nati grad and former collegiate athlete, and big fan of the "No Longer Big East," who is living in NY, I had the pleasure of watching quite a few Cuse games.  And the reality is that they do struggle vs efficient 3 point shooters, as evidenced (b/c it was the first that came to mind) in the Cincy/Cuse game that, in all fairness, Syracuse should have lost.  Nati lived and died by the 3 all year, and TORCHED Cuse in the 2nd half...had they not "died" by the 3 in the 1st half, and used their size and athleticism on the inside, would have EASILY beaten this Cuse team with a bunch of JC transfers!

So, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, the strongest play, as EVIDENCED all year (including the tourney we are presently discussing!), the strongest play seems to be THE UNDER 131...not either of these two teams that "about half" of you will be losing your rent money on due to your "certainty."  Cuse plays fantastic defense...and what happens when 3 point shooters struggle...low scoring games!!  I'm sure you can quickly find plenty of examples on your own ladies and gents since I am no ESPN analyst wannabe and have work to do!  (and actually I would love to never be accountable for what I say to the masses...between sports "analysts" and weathermen, is there a less accountable occupation in the world?)

PS "Every team in the Big East is chock full of aggressive, wide bodied bigs who attack"...Please provide specific examples, not general statements!

And very genuinely as a fellow gambler...GLTALL!!!

First off, John Belien never had a player like Trey Burke to beat Syracuse's zone with and he is 14-3-1 ATS in his NCAA tourney appearances-pretty impressive. Secondly, Michigan has shot 48% from the field and 38% from the 3 point line all season-this is not exactly some out of nowhere hot shooting streak they are on, their hot shooting has been sustained all year long.

5 days to prepare is much better than 2 or 3, and its actually 6, i misspoke.  and its a heckuva lot more than 1 some teams got in this tourney or in season.

now obviously you are another blind cuse homer who is getting mad that anyone thinks they can beat your juggernaut zone and offense which scores 55 points tops against good teams.

yea they won at ville, they also lost at home to vile and were annihilated in big east title game last 15 minutes, unlike any time i have ever seen a team get thrashed off the court.  no coincidence ville was healthy for those two games.

they are good mate, but they arent that good, go easy on your cuse bet and take the kids out to dinner with the $ u save

I love all the backward comparisons here. Its just completely and utterly unimportant. 

Everyone said Florida tempo would be too much for Michigan and that their "age" would beat a young Mich. Whoops...

Well everyone said a terrible offense in Cuse had no chance to run with Indy...whoops!

Louisville twice (27 pts in east champ game... )

Soooo what does this mean? It means 50% of us are screwed. You can argue both sides of every coin here. 

Indy beat Mich, Cuse beat Mich. 

Cuse got  (raped) by Georgetown who couldnt beat a 15 seed that Florida beat up good. 

So after all this mess, what do I conclude? 

Its a toss up. If Burke and the boys dribble penetrate and cause two things 1. passing lanes down low or 2. open shooter that HIT THEIR shots, Michigan wins. 

If Cuse plays stout D and Michigan misses shots, cuse wins. 

All it comes down to is if Michigan hits shots, or Cuse's D gets rattled. 

YOU JUST NEED TO PICK A SIDE THAT YOU BELIEVE SHOWS UP!!!!!

I for one am backing Michigan. Love their run and I've already got a ton invested in them.
