Is IU better than Michigan, sure you could say that, they beat them twice but its not about that because they arent playing each other.  Its all about the matchups.

IU does not match up well despite their shooting against a zone for a couple reasons.  1. their coach is a moron  2. they dont have agressive bigs.  Zeller is not an agressive big, he is frail and weak who is only good at tip ins off offensive boards.  the michigan ship is different.  mcgary and morgan are agressive wider bodied bigs who can attack.  while jordan hulls can shoot and yogi ferrell will be good, they dont attack seams anywhere near trey burke level or tim hardaway jr level.

the biggest thing if you want to compare indiana and michigan to playing cuse besides the coaching advantage to michigan schematically is this.....indiana doesnt win slow paced games.  teams like ohio state, wisconsin, temple, and as you saw cuse who play half court games give them trouble or just flat out beat them.  michigan would rather run sure, but they have zone "beaters" because they not only have the shooters in stauskas burke and hardaway but they have guys who can penetrate the lane and kick out or agressive bigs who will attack.

look at siva and russ smith as examples of that.  and look at how carter-williams has struggled against thief like guards defending him, like trey burke will be.

First off Carter Williams is 6.6 and Burke is 6.0 more like 5-11ish he wont be guarding him much.

Vcu was a terrible team, burke was able to break the press and score make easy passes to wide open guys,

Mich had the biggest miracle win ever vs kansas

Florida stunk...beat 14 11 and 15 seed to get to elite 8

Syracuse defense is tremendous right now, holding teams to 15% 3pt shooting right now

Beline lost 6 times when he was at WV vs cuse  0-6 vs the zone

This Cuse team is playing better defense than any other in Cuse history,,,no miracles this time...

Michigan is fav cause they destroyed a weak Flor team..Cuse should be -2.5 in this one but they are getting pts

 

Bottom line is this..this is the best bet in the tourny so far, Cuse will win quite easily...bet the mortgage..dom

If you are using this as a reason to bet Syracuse just stop. Florida is undoubtedly a top 5 team in the country and was flat out outplayed and outgunned. There are no two ways around this. Yes they played a terrible game but its hard to beat a team shooting 65% from the field.  My gut says Syracuse's run stops here but their defense always keeps them in games. This is a tough one to call IMO but if Michigan is shooting anywhere near as well as they did last game cuse has no chance.

as far as Florida goes I am just making a point about the seeds they played, has to be the easiest path to elite 8 history

With regards to IU guards vs UM guards; Hulls/Ferrel are 6' tall. Stauskas/Hardaway are 6'6 with long arms and high release points. Hulls is no threat taking it to the lane.

Burke will command way more attention than anyone from the IU backcourt. UM will get looks. If they shoot average or better? They won't lose. Burke/Hardaway were a combined 8-29 vs FU and they still won by 20?

Kansas/Florida were both in the top 10 defensive FG percentage and neither stopped UM from getting their looks.

I am rooting for Syracuse harder than anyone, just trying to make my point as to why I think they lose.

you failed to mention that BUrke is 6'0". Syracuses point guard is 6'6". Their forwards, who will be blocking those shots by hardaway and stauskas,  are 6'9" with longer arms and higher block points.
and Michigan is going to have more trouble trying to stop Syracuse on O.

Burke was shut down by Craft and Oldapido this year...he ain't CP3....do't ever say that again.

And I didnt say one thing about comparing  mich/ iu grds.
Only that Mich will be suffocated by the zone and cannot matchup on D vs Cuses O . Period

Mcgary prob hasn't seen much zone and in a zone he is going to have to touch the ball a ton, kick out passes, shoot,,big time pressure on him,,sure he gets ball in post can make move to the basket,,can shoot the 15 footer but now the offense has to somewhat go through him, this will be new to him on the college level and prob new to him in general.
