What's interesting about this thread is that all that is being talked about is Syracuse's amazing zone defense and nothing is being said about their woeful offense. Here are the averages from their last 3 tournament games: 60.7 points per game, 40.3% shooting from the field, 35.1% from the 3 point stripe, 4.3 three pointers a game, 66.2% free throw % (which will especially hurt them because they won't go to the line very often playing Michigan who commits the fewest fouls in college basketball), 6.7 assists per game (that is not a mistype), offensive rebounds 9.0 per game (3 less than season average) and 11.7 turnovers per game ( the only good thing they are doing right now but matches up against a Michigan squad who commits the fewest turnovers in college basketball). Bottom line, Syracuse's offense this tournament has been rather spotty and I think they'll have a hard time beating Michigan whose offense is clicking on all cylinders unless they made a vast improvement on these numbers.
What the hell is so special about Michigan's defense that makes you think they'll shut down Syracuse? Marquette and Indiana were better than Michigan on D. What happened to them?
In case you haven't been noticing MCW and Triche have been more focused on taking it to the rack instead of settling for jumpers. Cuse runs double high screens for them and they either drive or dish to Southerland/Fair.
I would think HOF Coach Boeheim has been telling those guys to go to the rim since Michigan has ZERO ability to defend the paint. #148 in FG percentage allowed and #244 in Blocks Per Game.

Yet they've managed to win 3 of their last 4 games by double digits and two in a row rather comfortably.

What's rattling in my mind is trying to construct a scenerio as to how this game will be played and how these players react to the tasks placed before them. When he was at west virgina this coach had excallent out-side shooters but wouldn't/couldn't force the ball inside vs 2-3 and was often outplayed by orange. Is this fr. guard going to learn to avoid habit and play a counter style? Mike Tyson said everyone has a plan until they get socked in the mouth. My personal feeling is that the Mich team /coach may not be smart enough to pull off such a departure of habit and will resemble the Hooisers more then the Hoyas in their efforts vs Orange.

first of all i said burkes game is similar to cp3s when he was in college.....and it absolutely is. Great handle, can get to rim at will a thats not a stretch by any means. and by u saying he turns it over all the time is laughable im pretty sure he was one of leaders of asst/turnover. stop buiolding up carter williams and triche as they both single handily cost cuse games this year

BTW, tell us again how a pick and roll is the key to breaking a zone?
Have you watched Syracuse the last few games? They are collapsing like crazy upon penetration. Like 2-4 guys are collapsing on the ball handler. THE ZONE IS COLLAPSING.
Michigan will make them pay for this. Pick n roll, pentetration, whatever. I do enjoy watching suckers like you think you know something I don't. I don't see many of you after the game is over though.............

Someone or something is driving the line down. Money line down to +113 on pinny. I placed numerous wagers on this game as soon as this line came out all money line. I have over 8k on the cuse +133. Confidence is at an extreme high. GO orange!!

Averadedom, Confident are we? Books and anyone with half a brain new the line was coming back! I would put stock into the line moves! I can't wait to see michigan burn u again! Cuse is the overrated team defensively! Watch and learn! Florida was a good team so was Kansas! Indiana got eat bc they had a terrible coach and seller sucked big time that game! Michigan should have beat Indy not that it matter but my point is simple Indiana isn't michigan! Michigan didn't match up bc McGary wasn't even playing well like he is now. I really am bothered by the fact that people must not swat bing what michigan has done this tourney! Kansas this whatever they lost to a great michigan team! Kansas is better than cuse! Cuse and those cocky kids will lose to tonight and it won't even be close!
Michigan blows out cuse by 15! Mark my words!
Michael carter Williams and triche suck I'll take hard away and Burke any day. So much more to their games! Complete players! Cuse never gets a complete player they are lazy and not prepared for the if time!

They really on Jim boeheim who in my opinion is the most overrated coach ever! Talent plus zone gave him all those wins! I wonder how that translated forsaken life success stories!
Man to man is only way to coach defense! 1-3-1 is ok for a bit

Every team's offense had been clicking on all cylinders until they face Syracuse.
The highlight should be everything before that. Stats don't lie-everyone is talking about the 2-3 zone but are overlooking the fact that Syracuse's offense will fail to win them this game.

Their lack of offense will catch up with them vs. a hot Michigan team. They played Cal who is a weak PAC 10 team, an Indiana team who was slumping, and a Marquette team who was a woeful shooting team to begin with.
