David Blough? 6'1'' 205. Folks, I'm about that height and weight and I am in shape and I would get destroyed on a college football field. But this isn't about me, it's about him. You have an undersized freshman starting his first college game against the highest flying offense in the nation.
Now I ask you, who would you rather have at QB. A guy who has the size and strength of an NFL QB, knows Purdue's system having played in it last year, is fighting for his job and is home with one last gasp to keep that said job, or this unknown freshmen who got thrust into this position last night.
It's quite obvious who gives you a better chance to win. 24 hours after the QB switch the line moved from -1 to -2.5. That's not a whole bunch for a very big change (mainly because people hate Appleby). Yes, I will give up 2.5 points to a redshirt freshman no matter how many times Appleby turns it over (because the guy does get you long TD's as well and will keep you in the game. Just ask Marshall, a game most of us watched).
I had Purdue bigger than I should have on the ML @ Marshall to open the season. IF Appleby only throws 1 pick 6, then it has a great shot at being a winner @ +210. Oh well...that's how ML dogs crumble.
The bottom line is that Appleby cannot think. His reads are predetermined, and he stares down receivers. IF Blough can think and manage a game, then Purdue has a shot; size and strength are great for making tackles after you throw the pick (something Appleby also struggles with). Appleby has done nothing but lose for Purdue...how does he give you a better chance to win? Shake it up with some new blood...the thing that is tough to handle is that Purdue isn't all bad; turnovers have sunk them, and it is time for the coaching staff to turn the page, or start looking for a new gig.
Personally, I find when everyone is loading up on a MAC team on the road @ a Big 10 school it is a potential bloodbath.
Rode with you last week heavy on UMASS, but have to hop off of the train this week. No play for me, but GL to BGSU backers.

So, what do we know? We know that BGSU has the potential to leak like a siv defensively on Saturday. We know that Appleby is a turnover machine. We also know that we have no idea how Blough will respond in this spot.
As an HC in this spot, I think the Qb change has more than likely come as a product of what has happened in practice and in the locker room...would not be surprised if the OC has pushed hard for Blough from the beginning.
I don't have a side in this fight, so best of luck to you and all the BGSU backers.... there are guys who know a lot more than I that are backing BGSU.
The ads on this site have made it nearly impossible to string 3 coherent thoughts together into a decent post. Freeze...type...freeze...repeat.
