I agree it's the wrong decision, especially when they lose Harbaugh, they won't be a nat'l contender next season

With no CBA signed, this is a HUGE gamble.  It's likely the new CBA is going to have some sort of a rookie cap and the top 5 picks aren't going to make nearly the money they have.

 

You guys crack me up, you bitch and moan all the time about the millions of dollars these guys make, then when I kid decides to stay at school, you bitch about that. There is nothing wrong with him wanting to finish school and get his degree. Regardless of what the pay structure is when he comes out, he will still make millions of dollars and will be set for life. He is doing the right thing.

I've never complained about the $ athletes make.

Additionally, he can go finish his degree any time in the future.

This is beyond stupid. What if he breaks his leg next year?

What if he breaks his neck?

It is costing him about $30 million that will never be recovered.

I agree, it's not the best move financially.  What happens if you has a career ending injury in college?  He's not obviously concerned about the money issue...If that was me, the second the bowl game was done, I'd make myself elibible for the NFL...but then again it's his life....

i dont know about how much national tv attention he got this yr anyway i live on the east coast and i think stanford was on 1 time. by coming back every game will be on tv and he will gain another yr of experience he's only played 2 yrs

Although his father is an AD he doesn't make the same as a number one overall would make. He will never be any hotter than he is right now and if not carolina this year it will be the worst team next year and whose to say that the qb position might not be what's wrong with that team. Any dip in his stats or injury could affect his draft status and money next year.I live 30 minutes from Stanford and believe me the degree is not even an issue,better hope Cam Newton doesn't win back to back National Championships

I am guessing Andrew's people are in the know about the LOCKOUT for 2011 so he may as well play at Stanford, finish his degree and be the biggest man on campus ever. Not sure what all the fuss is over.

the Oregon/Stanford game was on in prime time in a good portion of the country.

Otherwise, the conferences have TV packages with networks, and the PAC 10 is on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/FSN West & Versus.

Regionally, you're just not going to see more of Luck on the East Coast.
And he just threw 4 TD's in a prime time bowl game.

Give the kid a break.. to most uneducated athletes money are more important than education.  the Luck chooses to finish his education over being drafted into the NFL in his Junior year. 
Personally I would take the money.. but that's only because i hate school.  Even if Luck don't make it in the NFL the chances of him making millions other than sports are greater than comparing to other known Athletes.  Just think of this what would Michael Vick do if he didn't play sports?  Most likely a bookie in a dog fight or some sort..

The point is this kid has great potentials because he sees the important value in education and football at the same time.  This is something we don't see in other young athletes today. 

Who would possibly waste a high draft pick on him?
