This is a good thread. I just want to say a couple of things.
1. My source is ESPN and according to all the draft gurus, GMs they interview, etc. Luck is the best prospect since Elway. Period. Comparing him to Bradford, et al is certainly doable but inaccurate. I'd like to point out that span INCLUDES the good Manning so the idea that someone had more buzz the last few years, again from info I hear/watch on ESPN, is crazy. It's almost impossible Luck could be a hotter commodity than he is today.
2. That being said I actually respect the hell outta him. While yeah, I would NOT turn down the $50M rookie signing bonus, who knows his motives? Maybe he went to Stanford to go to school decided to play football too and turns out he is really good at football. Maybe instead of getting the shit kicked out of himself 16 Sundays a year he wants to be an architect; you can make great money doing that not NFL money but still it's a lot less painful. Maybe his people know some NFL guys and they told him it's highly unlikely there will be a season next year since the CBA is not getting done and he wants to play ball. Maybe he's one of those guys who told his Mom he'd get his degree. Who knows?
From my perspective if he wants to play football in the NFL he's making a horrible choice right now. If that's not the most important thing to him then I say well done.
I'm starting a new thread but why would you sign rookies with no CBA? The current one expires in March and the draft is April.
