Glad the season is coming to an end. I think the BCS matchups kind of sum up the season for many of us. This just hasn't been a very good year in college football. My handicapping was bad, I got very few breaks, the quality of football was bad and we end up with too many undefeated teams that will not get their shot at the big game.
Championship Week was actually different than I expected. My favorite game of the week was of course the Pac10 game in which Oregon narrowly defeated the Beavers to get to a Rose Bowl. The Georgia Tech/Clemson game was also very close and somewhat entertaining. The Alabama/Florida game was not so entertaining and it was very one sided, however the amount of points in the game almost made it watchable for me. The Texas/Nebraska game was flat out unwatchable, that was some of the worst offensive football performances I have seen in many moons. They can talk about the defenses all they want but those offenses just plain sucked. No way that Nebraska defense would hold Bama, Cincy, or Oregon to only 13 points. Texas better have a great month of practice and preparation because they aren't facing Zac Lee this time around (he is worse than any QB I have seen all year).
Some Bowl Game Betting Advice (from an average capper)
- don't get caught up in the lines, Vegas doesn't know anything in regards to the outcomes, the Bowl Game lines are much like the 1st week of each season where the oddsmakers don't have a great feel either and they are only trying to draw even action, the games aren't rigged, the lines aren't fishy (don't talk stupid)
- don't let the computer be your enemy, with all the time between these games the worst thing you can do is read everyone's opinions on lines and outcomes, bet what you like when the lines open and stay off the computer, otherwise you will 2nd guess yourself, bet games you wouldn't have that lose and pass up games you should have won, I see it every year, guys start threads whining and bitching about they let someone talk them into a loser
- matchup the conferences and motivation factor for each game and decide which team wants to be there, situational capping is huge in bowl games (like Utah vs. Bama last year & Boise vs. OU)
