Guys , I understand the bias against the Big 10, I get it. They haven't been as strong as the SEC lately, but it isn't like any of the other conferences blow them away either. For someone to say that the Big 10 offenses are low scoring is just idiotic. Many of the teams, especially the lower rung teams, score a lot and give up a lot of points. The totals are routinely in the 50's , and this is with much of the season being played in cold weather. I understand that the SEC and Pac 10 have these big TV contracts, and nobody is watching the Big 10 games much, but these preconcived notions are just the reason why so many are losing gamblers. They just can't get over what they "think" they know...
the Big 10 was 1-6 in bowl games last season, also they have all of their games on ESPN every Saturday Morning so many get to see them play

I appreciate your hard work David but as I told you, I deserve a good kick in the ass for this season, not an award, I have been terrible for most of the season, that being said, I never got nominated for season's past when I killed it so I guess it all evens out, Happy Holidays

WahooS I have always respected your threads and continue to appreciate your seasoned insight. My question is how you can be so confident that the Ducks will play the kind of ball necessary to stymie a perennial Bowl powerhouse like OSU, especially given the fact that Tressel has seems to benefit from long layoffs (almost 5 weeks I think his Buckeyes are resting.) I personally agree with you jumping on the Ducks but my problem with them is their inconsistency. If the Oregon that beat up USC and smashed Cal shows up, I'm totally with that. But I have my doubts about which Ducks show up. I guess my question to you would be is the Oregon-3 play your favorite of all bowl games? I am leaning towards the FLA -10 game being the best of all bowl plays, but I'm a mere tyro compared with you....Thanks
you pose some very good questions
Oregon is not my favorite bowl play, I like a few of them quite a bit starting with Rutgers tommorrow (one of my favorites)
the hardest thing when considering a bowl matchup is knowing which team will come out rusty, read to play, nervous, etc
that is such a hard thing to predict so I just go with who I would go with during the regular season in most cases
I don't like Ohio St very much, that isn't a secret, I also like the Pac10 quite a bit, that isn't a secret, but no matter what I bet what I think will win, not with bias
I have said many times that I can see this game being very close for a while, maybe the Buckeyes even leading early, but I think the Ducks style of play will eventually wear out the Buckeye defense, they play so fast and when they get in rhythm then it is like a fastbreak offense, the Buckeyes don't face anything like that in their conference, alot of people say the Buckeyes are too physical for the Ducks but the Ducks beat USC by alot and the Trojans are just physical as the Buckeyes if not more every single year, USC always has better offensive linemen and a better defense than Ohio State (maybe equal this year) but USC did win in Columbus
I like the Duck offense and QB much more than the Buckeyes offense and QB, I think the Ducks win bro and I think they do it with relative ease in the 2nd half, 34-20 sounds about right for that game to me
Happy Holidays and Best of Luck for the Bowls

The thing about Oregon is their home/road dichotomy, which is perhaps the biggest of any top 10 team. You guys are saying, "they killed USC, they destroyed Cal", which is true, but that was at home, and the Rose bowl is basically a road game / neutral game. I don't see either team really having a home edge here, but the OSU will have the edge in that they have been a better road team, more consistent, and a good defense usually travels well. If you look at Oregon's road games, they were destroyed in Boise, they beat some weak UCLA and Wash teams, they lost to a good STAN team, giving up 52 pts, and they beat a decent Ariz team but gave up 41 pts there. This road performance is not exactly awe inspiring.

Miami was supposed to be a team with "speed" and they got destroyed by a slow team, Wisconsin. man the "speed cappers" must have taken a bath on that one...

Oregon is upgraded to LARGE MONEY, the original play was for regular juice but I didn't want different lines so I had to buy it down from a couple of different numbers at various books to get my original number, higher juice than I would normally ever pay on a big bet, but if it wins like I think it will than the juice is a n non factor
Best of Luck & Happy New Year
Goooooo Ducks!!!

don't know how I just won Ole Miss, if Snead wasn't on the take today then he really is worse than I thought earlier in the year, dude led the FBS in picks this season, needless to say he will probably come back for his senior year and with a splendid senior season he might be holding a clipboard in the CFL, Mel Kiper had him going as the 1st QB taken before this season started, wow, he is worse at predicting the draft than I am at predicting the games
6-5 (but down money because of getting smacked around with Oregon)
have Arkansas & Iowa pending
will probably add another play or two for prime time fade material, this season just can't end fast enough for me, I don't think I'm gonna get drafted now either, I might not even make a practice squad next season after this year's performance

Wahoo, you are too hard on yourself, shit happens...shake it off...this is my worst gambling season as well. Do you have any leans on tonight's game? I am leaning Mich St. and over but haven't pulled trigger yet.
