Bama biggest weakness in my eyes is jalen hurts. That's huge considering he has the ball in his hands every down. He has hidden behind the running game and defense all year. No hiding anymore. One can say the secondary but in order to expose that secondary, you need time. Bama front 7 doesn't give much time.
I think you're right.... Hurts is a liability. But I will say this.
Usually teams with young or " game managers " struggle vs elite teams... But Alabama is a different animal so what. They never really rely on the QB position to win games... they're so good everywhere else on the field that they're able to hid this.

Bozeman is the rock in the middle of that line, a 319-pound junior. Guards Ross Pierschbacher and Korren Kirven will also get their chances to deal with the Clemson's man-child. In fact, don't be surprised if Venables tries to get Lawrence matched up on the guards who are not as good as Bozeman.
I can't remember where this came from but it was from one of the Bama newspapers I believe- I would like to hear your thoughts as it contradicts your earlier comments-
Also how do you think Sark calling plays will affect things? I have to think he will try and get his play makers on the edge against this Clemson defense- Seems they struggle when teams spread them out as it is tough to burn them on the interior with those defensive anchors on the inside of the line- same could be said against the Bama defense but their defensive ends are so good and their linebackers are nasty

Blowoutgm....
I don't know why he is the " rock ".... I know what my eyes see.... and I trust me...
Seriously tho.... he is not athletic at all and will be abused Monday night.
About half way through the 1st half you will notice a consistent theme..... Clemson is abusing that "A" gap...

I dont see any changes... as I said before, I think this was the plan all along.....and Saban being the great coach he is, is just trying to throw another variable out there.
At this point in the season you don't reinvent the wheel... you are who you are.... Just like Clemson... Bama knows who they are...
Now it's about execution and players winning one on one battles and great players being great.

as far as sar goes....

Jalen Hurts is another "trust the process" system game manager in the Saban era. Do I see him as the weakest link? Not at all. The fact that he has struggled with downfield passes does not excite me one bit. The short and intermediate passes are what he needs to focus on more and will have to in order to win this game. I really think that Saban beats into all of his QBs heads that he wants them to manage the game and NOT turn the ball over. I have seen quite a few times this year watching Hurts and think to myself why not pass it to X receiver when there was a slight opening. He is scared to turn the ball over, which is not a bad thing but there will be a time where you MUST take a risk and this may be one.
Bradley Bozeman... what can i say here. I admire the kid for taking over the center position from another position. He controls the line overall well for what he has to work with. Is he a good Center/blocker/athlete.... maybe not so much. He is no Barrett Jones I will tell you that.
Lastly, Good ole Sark... the next Saban project coach. Turns a drunk losing coach into hopefully the next great assistant. Well... i guess we will see. I dont think it effects the overall play calling. We need to stick to what got us here. However, I can hear every single Bama fan screaming right now (along side with me) "RUN DA BAWL". If the run game is working, why switch it off? Counted numerous times this year running the ball went very well and then here comes 3 screen or pass plays to kill the drive.
What honestly has worried me the most this year with this offense is running Hurts to death. I love he can extend a play if the pass is not there, but why run him so much on designed run plays? We have RBs for that. Stats show Hurts runs more than Bama's running backs. Is that a good thing? I sure as heck think not.
No one pointing a case for Bama to win? Like i said before. Any team can be beat on any given day. I think both teams have a great shot to win this game which makes it all the more interesting (better than a Notre Dame/LSU/Michigan State/Washington vs Bama game)
The ole saying Defense wins championships normally bodes true. In my eyes, Bama has the overall better one here.
Trust the process and trust Nick Saban. If i have learned anything, it is not to doubt his process. He will keep doing the absolute best to keep this team winning.
The Bama offense can break out and be great when its clicking and wants to. If the O-line can hold its own for most of the game, this could be a dandy of an offense
It is a damn near proven fact to beat bama pretty much 3 things have to happen: 1 either dual threat qb or a stupidly good passer (deshaun is usually both) 2. Win the turnover margin (watson has 17 INTs on the year) 3. Make huge plays.
Lastly one I will add, it helps to have the lead at halftime. If Bama has a decent lead and controls the clock with run and wears another team down, it is over 95% of the time.

I want to throw something out there and see if anybody in here can come up with the correct answer.
Where is the biggest weakness on the Alabama team?
I know the answer without question.... I want to know if anybody else knows....
I say Centre and QB which is part of the reason they have Hurts taking snaps off the butt......also, it lets the other blockers open up a hole up the middle with that little delay. Hurts does well up the middle vs mediocre dees but I saw what happened vs the Huskies and a couple other times vs good teams this yr....he finally gets it late in a game but the oline-man have already beating the crap of the other d-lineman......it will be the other way around vs Clemson and HURTS IS GOING TO BE RUNNING AROUND SCARED!!
Proving is hard. Talk is easy.

Watson will certainly be the best player on the field. But last year he had the game of his life. His passing accuracy was amazing. He has been a little more careless with the ball this year, including 2 picks against Ohio State and another 2 that should have been. Perhaps he is a little overconfident, I don't know. But most folks are expecting him to have the same performance as he did last year against Bama. That is going to be hard to replicate, even for a player like him. I think there is a good chance his mistakes and play this year catch up with him such that he does not play well enough to win the game.

I just dont see where the Clemson defense has been so good- Gave up 36 to Louisvile, 34 to FSU, 42 to Pitt, and 35 to Virg. Tech- True it is a totally different offense in Alabama but I don't see them stopping the Bama running game and quick screen game. The worry for me in betting Clemson would be the Bama front 7. Clemson won't be able to run unless Watson does everything and has the game of his life like last year. I would have to believe the Saban will make adjustments this year to help defend Watson. The Bama defense is also much faster than it was a year ago.

Well three of those Clemson games were late in the season. Alabama's defense seemed to get better throughout the season. I am not saying there aren't good but they gave up way more points and yardage in the second half of the season. They obviously have a better rush defense(compared to their pass defense) and that plays into their favor as Alabama hasn't proven they can beat anybody passing the ball. I would think Sark would try to spread them out with quick screens, reverses, etc. then pound the ball with #9. I think the line is spot on at 7 and could see this game going either way. I don't like Alabama at all, I am just trying to find an edge for either side and it seems like a toss up. This seems like one of those games that will be perfect for live betting or just waiting until the 2nd h to make a play-

Great read on the game Boom. I don't think there is anyone on Alabama that can defend Mike Williams. He is hands down the best receiver I have seen in a long time in college football. As long as Watson has time to throw he will pick apart the defense. He can run just as well as Hurts. Rookie qb will make a mistake or two also. Clemson must take advantage of these turnovers. It's gonna be a great game and pretty evenly matched across the board. But Clemson will prevail at the end.

I think what you're missing is that Clemson plays teams who actually play offense...
When thy played Louisville they were hitting on all cylinders.Pitt is the most efficient offense in the country....V.T is a very good offense..FSU is a VERY good offense.... ask Michigan.
This isn't the SEC where offense is a thing of the past...
Clemson is not the best defense in the country... but man for man I would say they're top 10... Alabama doesnt have a offense that would be a bad matchup for Clemson..
as I have said all week.... I see a scenario where Clemson could get up in this game and Bama could start pressing and Clemson walks away with it.

Last year, Clemson couldn't have made it any easier on Alabama's offense. Henry breaks a 50 yard TD early, forcing Clemson to focus on run defense even more than they were. The Alexander injury was a nut shot. Coker ends up with what has to be the best game of his career. We also, got a little out schemed and a little out coached.
I'm a Clemson fan, but I do think we should have won the game. Just didn't seem to be quite ready for the moment.
That said, I think we will win this year. Yes, we were inconsistent earlier in the season. I have seen every game, some more than once. I think our problem was simply that THIS is the game that this season was all about. Many teams have games where they get caught "looking ahead" to the next game. We did that all year.
I believe you will see a determined group tomorrow night. Think of it like a boxer. Every fighter that has ever been the champ has let up a bit once the got the belt. It's human nature. I think the sting of last year is a big motivator. Doesn't mean Alabama doesn't want it. I just don't think you maximize your potential when you expect to win it. Everyone from fans to Dabo knows this is a rare collection of talent. I think they get it done.
Clemson 38
Alabama 31

I've yet to hear one other person talk about this in the media this week.... NONE...it's the great secret nobody wants to talk about....and if they do, they say things like Bama got better....But in their minds the same logic can't be used for Clemson...
Trust me... Clemson is better defensively now then they were 10 weeks ago.

I've had this gut feeling that Bama wasn't winning the title this year once the playoffs were announced.
Wanted to jump on the field at +210 but thought I could get a better price in the championship game. I can't, but I'm still playing Clemson at +200.
I expect Clemson to jump out early and Bama to have major difficulty playing catch-up with Hurts passing the ball. I see him turning the ball over a few times.
Last few gut calls were Broncos SB & Cavs Ship. Will the beer belly keep the streak going?
