I’ve been hearing that for the past half decade.Yet here we are.Another title game.Another SEC team.
Like I said: this isn’t going to end anytime soon.Pretty much the only hope SEC-haters have is that more than one of the major SEC schools goes on probation at the same time.
Hopefully we can crown a true national champion in the near future.
Regardless of conference. Fix the game and level the playing fields for all the teams that have a shot.
six team playoff
game 1 Notre Dame vs Kansas state
game 2 Georgia vs Oregon
winner of game 1 would play would Alabama
winner of game 2 would play Florida
Who ever would be the last team standing out of that would truly be a champion
The trophy would mean something.

Alabama won their division by being the only team with 1 loss.
“florida against Georgia”
That’s why they didn’t win their division.
“georgia against sc”
Georgia won their division by having only 1 loss and owning the tie breaker over UF.
“oregon against stanford”
That’s why Oregon isn’t playing for the national championship.
Bottom line: if you play in a major conference and take care of your business you are almost certainly going to play for the BCS championship. If you don’t, then you leave your fate in the hands of others.
“Alabama to me looks like the better team on the field. But florida has the best resume out of all the teams and they also have the best looking loss.”
That may be, but Florida didn’t even win their own division and I don’t think many people are arguing that Georgia and Florida are clearly the two best teams in the country.
Winning your conference or division means nothing in the *BCS era*
case in point last years *champs* didn't win there division or conference.
Nebraska in 2001 didn't either....My ducks were the most deserving team that year.......not saying they would have beat Miami and Dorsey but it would have been a game........

Define the word *good*? I wouldn't say it is in the same boat as *fair* or *equal* or *legit*.
But a 6-0 record in extra game at the end of the year with 4 different teams being participants is very impressive.
In this case I would go with “of high quality; excellent.”
As for your “fair, equal, or legit” it’s like I said earlier: if you play in a major conference and take care of your business you are almost certainly going to play for the BCS championship. If you don’t, then you leave your fate in the hands of others.
And the tie breaker the SEC almost always gets is one of the benefits of playing in the conference that is so clearly the best in football. You are more likely to get the benefit of the doubt over a team that plays in a weaker conference.

Who determines what the doubt is and where it matters more?
In what other sport, college or pro is "benefit of the doubt" part of any equation to determine who the champion is or who the 2 "lucky" participants are?

Well I already said I wish they would have an 8 team playoff if it was set up right. The top 8 teams get in. Period.None of this crap where a 9-4 conference champion gets in over a 10-2 team from a better conference.
Of course that would mean the SEC would have multiple teams in the playoffs every year.Hell, this year they would have 4 teams.
And something tells me you wouldn’t be making the same then “the trophy would mean something” claim if Oregon had beaten Auburn. Of course that’s just my opinion.

Alabama got away with not winning their own division because pretty much everyone except for the most hardcore SEC-haters thought they and LSU were the two best teams in the country.

Why do they have a poll after the last game?
I wanted them to win. Close doesn't count for garbage. They have a better team this year. Injuries have decimated there secondary but that is the same for all teams. Wish they would play against Florida in the sugar bowl. Not saying they would win. But would like to see the challenge.
If it was eight teams I would put stanford and texas am in before LSU.....see close games vs arky and auburn.....how anyone thought clemson would win the game vs s.c's second team is beyond me...........they were a (michael dyer play) away from losing to auburn. straight up.

I will say the SEC, there fans and schools do get that together they are stronger, there voices mean more......... united in the polls and at the end of the season when determining. On Saturday, you could see an Alabama fan crying because they know they aren't going to get to play in the natty.....and 4 minutes later chanting SEC...............SEC................SEC no other conference does this. After they got shut out in 2004 they had to have a meeting of the minds to figure out how to beat this chaotic, non legit system.
They found a way, some say its the surplus of talent, surplus of great coaches, surplus of great fans, angle shooting the system.
I say its a mixture of all 4.

Obviously I'm a lot older than you. A half decade trend in a sport that's been around since the 1860's isn't necessarily indicative of future results. But hey, your opinion might be right........but then again, it might not. Either way, I'm huge on the Irish and the points.

Because the AP has their own national champion.
Yeah, Florida/Oregon would be a good matchup.

I think TCU could have beaten us. I think the way they played all season they deserved a chance to be actually knocked out.
I also believe Stanford could have beaten us at the end of the year.
We got extremely lucky against them in 2010.
I went to 2 games that year. I was in Knoxville during the monsoon.
And I was at Autzen when the Cardinals had us on the ropes 21-3 in the first quarter. The game changed when we knocked Chris Owusu out of the game.
All in all it would have been a trophy a bowl game win, but not a championship.

It might be a mixture of the four, but I think it’s mostly a combination of the first two.

The SEC keeps winning and covering in BCS title games and people keep on betting against them. Those who do not learn from history…
I love Bama (if they beat UGA) against Notre Dame for so many reasons, but the biggest advantage I think they have over the Irish is coaching. One need only look at last year’s title game and this year’s Michigan game to see what happens when a Nick Saban team has over a month to rest and prepare for a single opponent in a big game.
9.5 points is a lot for a title game, but if Bama brings their A game I don’t see how Notre Dame keeps it close.I also wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if it turns into another SEC BCS Championship bloodbath.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. I made some nice scores on several of the BCS championships in the past 6 years (in particular, Florida ML over Ohio State) and I'm certainly no SEC hater. But I've seen this Notre Dame team, in particular this defense, live and up close and they are the best defense I've seen go up against an SEC foe in one of these games. I think they keep it close. Good Luck!

College football is not a real sport. Find something else to watch guys. It's similar to wwe
Not quite like WWE..............It's like an awesome book. You can't put it down for the first 15 chapters......Then somehow when you get to the last chapter, there are missing pages and you have to guess and jump to conclusions. The smallest of tweaks would make the sport hands down the best there is. 6-8 team playoff. Then we might be able to hand a trophy out that actually MEANS something.

Weak beause they have no offense...a freshman QB, shoulda lost to Pitt...A 33 YD FG AWAY FROM LOSING (PITT who lost to Youngstown st) and wins vs. OU and USC are over-rated!!!! They will lose to whoever they play..Oregon would beat them by 14...Florida would beat them by a TD...Bama will beat them by 17!!!! UGA would be a good matchup for ND!! Because UGA isnt used to being there!!!

It cracks me up how some people think a troll is anyone that has an opinion they don’t like.
You post that “the bottom half of the SEC needs to focus on beating the Sun Belt.”
I retort by pointing out Notre Dame beat Purdue, BYU, and Pittsburgh at home by 3 points.
You then claimed those close games were because teams “play their best when ND comes to town, and are not intimated by the Irish.” But of course teams outside of LSU and A&M don’t play their best against Alabama.
So basically your defense is weak teams tend to play well against Notre Dame.Hmm…
You brought up the concept of an SEC All Conference team playing Notre Dame.I was simply stating my opinion that such a team could probably beat some NFL teams. And the only thing dumb is to speak with absolute certainty about something we couldn’t possibly know for sure.
Purdue rivalry game and first game back from Ireland
BYU horrid on offense but a top 5 defense Bronco also commented after the game it was the best his team had played all year.
Pttt was in a major letdown spot after crushing the Sooners on the road
Bottom line winning is winning.
