I will say they play with more heart than any team I have watched this year. FSU just does not give up. The Defense is a top 5 in the country.
I get your big on this team. But they are not top 4 material. Just wait for their Bowl Game. Hopefully its against Georgia so this debate can be settled.

The committee has to answer to the NCAA, who in turn has to answer to the television networks who put up billions of dollars. That's why FSU didn't get in. I bet you the committee struggled with Washington but couldn't do it (i.e. dropping them out of the top 4).
The math is very simple here. 4 teams with huge followings with starting, healthy QB's. The choices were a no brainer. One could have made a case for Georgia over Texas but that's for another thread..

in terms of power in college foorball..the SEC hands down has the power .....I am not meaning power as far as the teams. The conference in its entirety so, there was no way they were leaving an SEC team out of the playoffs.

Would it be fair for to have Michigan vs FSU in a semi final game?
if it’s about 4 best teams, Georgia is in. They would be betting favourites over all 4 teams in.

Probably Ohio St too. I'd put them over Washington

So,if Mahomes gets injured we can call for the Chiefs to be out of the playoffs? NO need to have them there they have no shot. Or did the team earn it not just 1 player? Do they have the right to play it out regardless?

Bottom line to me is "Deserving vs Best". I don't think a committee has gotten it right once, and I can promise you, next year, there will be bitching about the 13th team and the 11th and 12th team. I have read so much in these threads and it would seem to me that as gamblers, watching football for 14-16 weeks, we can see who the BEST 4 teams are, but this year was tough.

How does the committee know who the "best" is when all of the teams have not played each other??? Isn't that supposed to be the entire purpose of the playoff? To determine who the "best" team is on the field. Determining who the "best" 4 teams is subjective, which is why the undefeated records should hold more weight than who 13 people in a closed room "think" they best 4 teams are. Determining the 4 best teams should never be an opinion based task when we have things like records available to us.
Can you imagine the NFL claiming well Wild Card teams are not eligible for the Super Bowl because we do not think they are the "best" teams? Such illogical thinking would have taken away many Super Bowl champions.
Today's results just show the whole process and committee playoff rankings are all BS. Basically FSU got punished for winning and had two teams outside of the top 6 the last two weeks just jump them without the Noles losing a game. Think about how absurd their rankings are up until this point. They should not even have rankings until after Conference championship week then if they do not mean anything anyway because they just get disregarded if you do not like the results of conference title games.

So Georgia is a 13 point favorite. Now explain to me the best 4 teans they supposedly chose. You telling me Georgia is not better than Texas Washington and Michigan no way Georgia be an under dog to any of those 3 teams in a bowl game. My point to all of this is FSU didn't belong in why is it the 4 teams they choose are the 4 best according to the committee. They left Georgia out thats where I have my problem with there explaining they chose the best 4 teams. No one can can tell me Washington and Michigan are better than Georgia. Georgia would beat both those teams in a bowl game.

Agree completely. If the committee was simply choosing the "best" 4 teams like they claim, Georgia should never drop out in favor of Texas right? 29 straight wins, back to back champions. Georgia was #1 or #2 all season right? in the mighty SEC, with one loss by 3 points. But they lost the conference championship so out? Yet FSU won conference champsionship and is out so none of it makes sense.

Both teams probably will be playing their second and third stringers. Georgia only plays for national championships. Florida State got super snubbed watch how many players sit out and rest.

and Iowa's defensive states come from playing the awful lower college tier programs in the Big 10.
