Good job this week Jimmy. Was all over Bama, ULM, A&M, Ark TT under, & AUB TT under. Keep up the good work. I see Auburn getting shutout this week vs LSU, at most 7 points or less. Your thoughts?

Jimmy- great week.

I waited til 30 min before and I heard Tyler W. wasn't in. Bama line was down to -18.5 even though I didn't need it.

Doubled my Bama money from week 1. Awesome.

Yes, I posted a "Best Bet" in post #122.  I was waiting to hear about Tyler Wilson before pulling the trigger.  I was going to bet Arkansas under wither way, but if Wilson was out I was going to make it a "Best Bet."

I make picks in large bold print so people can quickly scroll through the thread and find them.  I also added the over in the New Mexico State/UTEP game in post #314.

Sorry you missed it.  I wish I could put "added plays" in the first post, but Covers doesn't give us that capability.

A few final thoughts on games that lost.

Cal @ Ohio State

I knew going in that Ohio State had been far from a juggernaut this season.  Nevertheless, I thought there were many factors favoring the Buckeyes in this game.  I also think Cal QB Zack Maynard is atrocious so I though Ohio State's defense would be able to pretty much shut him down.

I thought Ohio State would score about 35, but I was betting on Cal scoring 14 or less.  If you let Maynard go 27/36 for 280 yards, and let Cal rush for 224 yards, your defense just isn't very good.  The bottom line is that I way overestimated Ohio State's defense.

Final grade on this play.  C-

TCU @ Kansas

For TCU, or any other respectable football team for that matter, to only score 20 points on one of the worst defenses known to mankind defies explanation.  I rarely scream fix, but I definitely think there was some point-shaving going on here.  I hope TCU was able to pay off the weed mon.

I would make this same play again.

Final Grade on this play:  B

Colorado State @ San Jose State

I knew going in that San Jose State was the better team here, but I felt pretty confident Colorado State could hang with them and play then under the number.  That really wasn't the case.  San Jose State pretty much controlled this game from the outset, and at no time did I really think I had a chance to cover.

Final Grade on this play:  D

New Mexico State @ UTEP

As this game got closer to kickoff, I really regretted playing the side.  I really felt like the best play was the over, and sure enough, the over hit with 10 points to spare.

As far as the side is concerned, a lot of people who played New Mexico State hit this bet because the line had move to 14 prior to kickoff.  Still others pushed it.

The Aggies got off to a terrible start in this game.  Had it not been for the slow start, I think they had a legitimate shot to win this game.  They gave the ball up 3 times on downs deep in UTEP territory.  I have no idea if the Aggies have a field goal kicker that's worth of shit (with all the Mexicans over-running the border you would think they would), but if they make a couple of field goals, this would have been a one-score game.

If I had to do it again, I would play the same side.  Actually, I would bet the over and leave the side alone. 

Final Grade on this play:  B-

BYU @ Utah

I really felt like BYU had the advantage in the trenches in this game, and the was the basis for this play.  While I think BYU really started to assert themselves late in this game, they didn't win the point of attack to the extend I thought they would.  I would say the war of in the trenches was a draw through 3 quarters, with BYU winning the 4th.

Had it not been for the radical 14-point swing in this game, I felt pretty good that BYU would have covered or pushed this bet.  I can never understand why teammates fight each other over a fumble.  If you see the QB is going to get it . . . BLOCK FOR HIM!!!  Don't fight him for the ball.  If a player or two throws a block for Nelson, he easily picks up the bad snap, and probably gets out of the pocket and throws it away for an incomplete pass, thus preserving the drive.  Instead, these dumb asses fight over the ball so neither recovers it.  That allows Utah's Mo Lee to get an easy scoop and score for a game-deciding 14-point swing.

Final Grade on this play:  C

Jimmy, Thanks for turning me on to your picks. I usually don't play weeks 1&2 of NCAA & NFL because it can be a crap shoot, but I couldn't lay off. You pulled me out of an early hole. I bit the dust a bit on your regular plays, but man what a whirlwind! I know you'll be posting again soon, but I was wondering if we should jump on the LSU-AUB line early. It is sure to rise quickly. Already up to 20 on one of my books.

Yes, I would jump on it now, although I really don't think it'll make much difference.  This game is such a huge mismatch at every level.  I think LSU will win this game by 40.  I really don't see how Auburn scores.  I look at this game very much the same as I did the Alabama/Arkansas game this past week.  I think we'll see a score of something like 41-0.
