Illinois at Purdue..

Opened at 5.5 or 6.. now down to 3.5 or 4 in most places..

This is Purdue we're discussing right? 

Can we call this a simple overreaction to Illinois losing to OSU and Purdue almost beating Penn State?

The conditions last week didn't allow Ill to really throw it.. not sure Purdue keeps it close

thoughts?

agree with SNF, I think the fact that Ohio St came out and won this game outright has put some people on the opposite side here. I got the line 6 but laid a little more now that the line is at 4. Purdue has the field and can keep a swing but i dont think Ill will lose at all, especially but less than a TD

Still looking hard at this game. I'm def leaning towards Illi so far.

Sat what's up bro?  I grabbed Illi at -6, thinking it would rise, now down to -4 so I doubled my wager !  We are talking about Purdue right?  PSU is overrated, no offense, so Purdue keeping it close is no surprise to me but I think we are getting some great value because of it.  OSU beating the Illi by completing a singular pass helps also.

Fighting Illini is where it's at!!!

I grabbed Illinois at -6, also thought it would rise. Purdue has covered handily two weeks in a row, but I attribute that to them playing bad teams. $.02

Purdue covering vs PSU is laughable, PSU blows, they would have trouble scoring on some of the better High School teams in PA! Maybe that's a bit much, but you get my drift!!!  I really don't see this game being close.

ILL couldn't stop the run vs. OSU and this Purdue team can run the ball...the line is correct plus Purdue playing at home? I think Purdue going to run all over ILL.

Purdue has 3 wins against some really bad football teams. They lost to rice. They have a head coach on the ropes, so that can work both ways. Not likely that he has lost his team completely. 

Illinois gives up less than 100 yards a game on the ground, don't see purdue running all over anyone. Petrino gets o back on track this week. Feel its a soft line as well.

Make sure you all check the weather. I've been to several games at Ross-Aide and when the wind is kicking-up, it is very difficult to pass and kick going from the unclosed end of the stadium to the closed end. I believe that would be a west wind?? The less scoring would definitely benefit Purdue. I don't believe Purdue will win, but if the teams can only pass, kick, score, going in 1 direction on the field, the score might be low. Just some thoughts.

I agree with what you are saying, but as a gator fan, there is always the ZOOK factor

I was just looking at numbers and this game has the classic RLM trap written all over it .... right now the line has drop 2.5 points while ILL is get 88% of the bets  ..... def something is up ...

Could Illinois be sulking? Last year it came off an emotional loss to Michigan with a disastrous loss to Minnesota. The Illini weren’t as good as the record over the first half of the season, needing to hang on to beat Western Michigan and Northwestern at home. Purdue might be better than those two, and it’s starting to do some decent things on defense since the Notre Dame disaster.

SNF... I am not sure if you're on with your assessment, or this is a bait line to get the public to bet on the Illini.  Logically this line does not make sense.  With that being said, its hard to see Illinois playing as badly as they did against OSU again this week at Purdue.

 but the illini are one of those teams that doesn't bring it some weeks. hopefully it was last week and not this one. really  i'm betting against Purdue, they suck

It does at that.  I have tracked this on and off.  It is...unreliable...

What is reliable is that when it happens, and the Purdues win, we ALL take notice.  When they lose, we don't notice.

Is it a big line move?  Yes and No.  from 6.5 to 3.5 is 3 points.  Crossing 4,5,6 tho.  If they opened it at 7.5 and it crashed to 5.5, that would concern me more as it crosses 7. 

Another example is the massive line move from -2.5 to +2 for rutgers.  But, again, what changes.  One team will win, and most likely, by 3 or more, so the move is not as important as, say, the SC line move last week.

Still, whenever I say fuckit (like i DID  with Ill), I usually lose.

did you guys watch that osu game, illini looked awful on both sides of the ball.  they let a freshman hand the ball off like 17 times in a row and there off was brutal, very hard to watch.  i think osu watched the tapes and "throw it up to jenkins" gameplan probably wont work the rest of the season.  they got beat by 10 by a team that went 1-4 for 17yrds passing.  im just sayin, they might be ranked but looked who they've played and i watched every play of last weeks game and would have trouble bettin on them givin anyone points

yeah, forgot to add in the zook factor.  hes worth 4-7 for the opposition every week.  see that look on his face when he realized how stupid he was for going for it on 4th down instead of kicking the field goal.  I call that the Wayne Fontes look.

Ive been following Illinois this whole season and I havent seen a quality win yet..

My first thought was Purdue is probably the play and I wish I had grabbed 6 pts early.

I LOSE ENOUGH OF THESE TO KNOW THAT GOOD OLD SAYING IF IT LOOKS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE .... THE BOOKIE USUALLY WINS!!
