I don't know what he got arrested for but so did cam newton. I just think its a all season performance and he wasn't anymore exception then any other qb this season with the exception of be game. Manti Teo for hiesman. Thank you!
Cam will be given that Heisman back soon enough and Auburn that title.

you boys are arguing 2 separate issues..so much confusion........
A. given the current criteria....which is.....
who is the best RB or QB from a top BCS team? *so probably Manziel......
or....
B. the award (should) go to the nation's top FOOTBALL player right?.....so linemen and defensive players don't count?...................................... wtf *although everyone knows....DEFENSE wins titles....and strength on the defensive front and OL are 2 of the main areas that separate the good...from the great teams....so we're so bored with anything that doesn't score points that we just ignore them?.... absolutely ridiculous.....
How should it work?..... *wait until the season is over....take all the individual award winners (Thorpe...O'Brien...Outland ++) *have that committee make a case for that winner....then vote.....(maybe vote in a few guys from smaller schools)
Since such a prestigious award...off the field stuff SHOULD matter....how you represented your school....and mostly the LEGACY you leave to the great game of CFB...so freshmen would mostly be OUT....unless special like Manziel maybe
So the list might look something like this....(just threw out some names...not gonna research who should win each award)
Te'o N Dame Klein K St Barrett Jones Bama Marquise Lee USC Manziel A&M Milliner Bama Clowney S Caro Jordan Lynch N Illinois Tavon Austin W Virg Arthur Brown K St
unless Klein has a tremendous game vs Texas and then the Ducks....and assuming Irish don't get slaughtered vs Bama.....my award would go to Te'o *IMO....he should get it this year too.....unless film research shows he had a bad game or two ......
The impediment to action advances action - what stands in the way becomes the way.

1. Why does it matter what year he is? That is the worst reason you give.
2. I did not know he was arrested. Could you elaborate please? Was he convicted of anything? I have been arrested and the charges dropped and I did nothing wrong.
3. So you lost a bet and think he should not get the trophy because of that? You want to punish someone else because you were on the wrong side?
"Honestly tigger i could give 2 craps about the heisman."
Then why did you even make a post about it?

Manti Teo is perhaps the 20th best defensive player to have played college football in the last decade. He was nowhere against USC for most of the game and got his name called once. At one point I wondered if he was even in the game.
Many, many more deserving defensive players have been shut out of this award. And no straight D player has won it; Woodson played some offense AND returned punts. If he didn't have return highlights there would have been no way he would have won it that year.
Teo is a good player. But he does not fit the Heisman mold.

I'll give my reasons and then all of you will probably rip me a new one
I like Johnny Manziel as do i would say most cfb fans. I've enjoyed watching him play from game 1 vs florida to beating Bama in Tuscaloosa to going point for point with La.Tech what a freshman season its been as well as season 1 for A&m in the SEC. Hell most people will tell you he should win based on going to tuscaloosa and crapping on a nick saban defense.
My reasons as to why he shouldn't win are
1. He is a freshman. Maybe i'm the only 1 i'm just not big on a freshman winning the heisman
2. His offseason arrest. I'm big on charcter guys moreso with coaches but i would hate to think that someone who was arrested for whatever he was arrested for shouldn't be rewarded with a heisman. I think he needs to pay for that
3. Where was Johnny Football when i needed him? Week 2 all 4 of you might remember i had a big play on A&M beating Florida and he played a great 1H against a great will muschamp defense but where was he in the 2H? His play in the 2H cost me a big win and could've sent me down the path of a losing season. He's got to be called on the carpet for it
I've never met Manziel i really enjoy watching him play hopefully i win a lot of bets on his team in the coming years but he's not the heisman winner. Most won't agree and thats fine but for his problems in the offseason to his 2nd halves vs Florida and LSU i can't reward him with the heisman
seriously these are the reasons? I was hoping for much much more. like the second poster said, you cant give it to anyone else, sorry...

Manti Te'o would have my vote. I might be a little biased since Notre Dame is my team. But there is just something special about Manti. He emobies what the Heisman Trophy is all about. On and off the field. He might be ranked 57 in the country in tackles, but he also has 7 interceptions at middle linebacker. He makes every single player on that field better. There is no way that team would be 12-0 if Manti left after his junior season. He wasn't a season changer, this kid was a program maker. If the Heisman Trust ever wants to make this truly a Player of the Year award, this is it.. Not just for what is done on the field, but for what he does off the field as well. Class act!
Couldn't have said it better myself.

If your strictly basing it off performance, Manziel wins. If it's about representing the NCAA right and having good character as well as performance, the Teo deserves the nod. Should be interesting and great points packefs

So, he shouldn't win the Heisman b/c he's a freshman (pointless), got arrested (pointless again) and didn't win you a bet? haha. Good stuff! The first two points weren't even points, really and the third just made me spit up my Lucky Charms. Enjoyed reading it, though! Good luck on the bets later today!

this stuff about him being a frosh and frosh should not win, is antiquated backwards thinking.
johnny was the best player overall this year in CFB, he deserves to win and most likely will

No offense here packers but if you "could give 2 craps about the heisman &think its a garbage award." Why make a thread about it? so the kid played a crappy 2nd half and you lost a bet 3 months ago.. let it go man
