Tulsa leading tackler from 2009 is not on the depth chart for this game.  No one will talk about why.  Bad news for the already poor Golden Hurricane defense.

Tulsa is starting a player who has been a running back for them for the past 3 seasons at Safety.  

RB playing Safety for the Tulsa secondary.

I think the line moved again because Dr Bob has this game as a Best Bet...so it's possible he's on ECU, thus another line move.

I kicked this thing around quite a bit...6.5 would be no deal.  But 7.5 is awfully enticing.  I'll probably pull the trigger.

I'm new to the Covers forum this fall (and wish I'd been around for your picks last year).

Can you tell us your record when you are picking ECU, and when you are on the opponent?  If you haven't tracked that stat, give an estimate?  Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!  I don't cap anything accept ECU games.  I don't follow other teams closely enough to put my money on them, for the most part.  There are exceptions, but those games are typically on other C-USA teams vs C-USA teams.  I haven't placed a wager on a game since ECU lost their last basketball game before the NCAA tournament this year.  

You see, I'm an ECU fanatic.  It's a sickness.  In fact, I would say that it would be impossible for any one person to be closer to a team than I am to my Pirates.  It's been that way since I started college in 1997.  Something about that place captured my imagination.  When I set foot on the campus, it was like letting a gold retriever off its leash on the beach. 

I made great friends and we all attended everything we could from a sports perspective.  Baseball, basketball, football...hell I remember even going to a few volleyball games...granted that was mostly to look at all the asses in tight shorts.  We whipped Louisville that night, I believe.

The Pirates have quite a loyal fanbase.  It's rabid.  Later I realized that I could profit off of how much I paid attention.  So I started capping games.  That was a few years ago.

I follow ECU athletics all day long.  I'm so close to this program.  I'm not a homer, however, when it comes to picking ATS.  My current record is 35-6-1.  It sounds funny to say, but it's the truth.  35-6-1.  

We all know that it's easy come, easy go in this game.  I'm confident that I'll continue to be profitable.

Thanks for the support.  Now let's get the money.

Lu, thanks for the response giving me more background.  I wasn't very clear with my question, though, so I'll try again.

What I want to know is can you break down that 35-6-1 record into two distinct records - what is your record when ECU was the play, and what is your record when ECU's opponent was the play?

At 35-6-1, you've got to be very good both when you're with ECU and when you're against them, but who knows - maybe there is some noticeable difference?  It would be interesting to know.  Thanks.

Yeah, so maybe he's 15-6 when he takes the opponent, and 20-0 when he takes ECU.  It would be interesting to know that.

Tulsa has 7 true freshman in their two-deep defensive depth chart.

Tulsa replaces 5 coaches this season with 5 new coaches, all from different programs and have never worked together.

Tulsa's Offensive Coordinator this year was a high school coach last season.

Tulsa is largely considered the third best team in the west behind Houston and Southern Methodist. The Golden Hurricane is going on the road to play against the back-to-back conference champions, who are 22-8 at home in the past five years — 12-2 during the past two seasons — in the league’s most daunting game-day stadium, which will yet again be sold out.

There was a time when it was expected that before a pen went to paper or before the microphone or cameras were turned on that extensive research would be conducted on the topics to be covered. Today, at least when it comes to C-USA, research is apparently not a prerequisite. The result is that bolus of bulletin board for the Pirates to consume and digest into the biggest chip ever donned by an East Carolina team.

Lu is considering going to 2 units on the ML and 2 on the spread.  That's a large bet for me.  I sincerely believe the wrong team is favored.  I'll let you guys know by the end of the day, but until someone proves otherwise, there's only one king of this conference...the Pirates.

FWIW the Congrove computer has only three dogs that should be favored, ECU is one of them.  They have them at -3.86.  (The other two are UNC and UCONN)
