Whodey, I have to admit, I am always against ND, despite an Irish GF and strongly opinionated Bro-in-Law. I have done very well fading them this year. (note last weeks non-cover in the next paragraph) And reading a write up manifested from someone sporting the Avitar is usually useless.
With that said...I couldnt agree with you more. GREAT WRITE UP!!! Very valid points. Especially with Nevada (although a while back). Thats a great spot to grade yourself against the option. ND's seen that, done that, exploited that. I am positive that, defensively, the Irish spent all this week PLUS a few days last week working on the option.
The last 2 years ND's been a joke (part of my anti-TD Jesus this year), so those close games to Navy dont bother me. Charlie obviously took his foot off the gas in last week's 2nd half. Very smart move. We've seen a few QBs knocked out of the game this year when the football gods deem appropriate. Come to think of it that part bothers me. Navy (another team made up of armed forces) has that special quality inside that others dont posess. Never say die, never quit. Yes, I could name 5 other teams (rather quickly) that I feel have the same qualities, but I just dont think that even THOSE teams have that upper echelon mentality that being overseas, or being in a situation preparing you to go overseas furnishes you with (note 2 TDs in 2 final min as you originally said). I hope I'm not talking anyone out of thise, im just brain storming here.
In addition to the Leprechauns chalk win, the Over looks rather inticing. This could very well be a game in which both offenses expose the oppositions deffensive weakness. This year ND & Nav have combined to play in 8 games with DD spreads. Those games went 6-2 (O-U). In 8 of those 8 games the total was surpased by an average of 5pts [this includes the ND game where Nev failed to score ANYTHING. (see paragraph 2 again)] I doubt Navy will fail to reach the colored grass (never say, remember) and this gives me one more shot at a score.
Sorry for deflecting any spot light from thread - I got carried away.
Good Luck, Ill be coat tailin ya here!!!!!

Boom Boom - If no one could stop the option, you would see it in the pros... The option is effective because no one sees it, no one is prepared for it. This is the sole reason Clemson's option was ineffective against Miami. They had already seen GATk run it. (haha - the result of the game excluded of course )
All - IMHO, Defending the option is like kick coverage. Stay in your lane. Speed, Athleticism, and Discipline. Be responsible for you position and job. Staying Home!!! If everyone is accountable for thier own position (players have to break down the plays into mini-games) then there is no reason to cheat, get caught out of position, and give up the big play. Blitzing will be detrimental to the Irish. DO NOT BLITZ... and we all know they do it 3 times too many per defensive stand.
