Another day another couple games analyzed

comments welcome

just trying to get discussion going.....July JUST finished and the quality of posts so far in the forum is pretty freaking good - but you do have to weed a bit. suck it up.

Michigan St -24 W Michigan....Sparty looks good - WM has a 32 yr old HC who apparently sleeps 3 hrs a day and swims in ice cold water WTF....Broncos look good other than in the trenches and sadly that wont help wk 1....Line looks bang on - pass.

Cincy -14 Purdue....Cincy looks like a potential juggernaut with a solid qb and great OL....D has a couple nice players and Tubberville wont hurt....Purdue looks like a work in progress and not sure what they are gonna hang their hat on....Line appears a bit high to us but cant justify a play on Purdue. pass.

DID u see the bowl game duke vs cincy? best game of the bowl season LY, they should have lost.  That QB kay is a warrior.

looked at a couple more....nothing jumped out - comments welcome

Clemson 1.5 Georgia....We have the fair line right where it is - if the spread ever got to 3/3.5 we would have to consider Ga...as good as Clemson may be - they have only 12 RS and have given up 29.3 and 24.8 pts/g last 2 yrs and face one of the best offenses in ncaa....of course Georgia has ? on D and might have 12 guys kicked off the team by then. No play for now. Would take a small taste of under if it hits 70 maybe.

Nebraska 24 Wyoming...We have it right on 24....Wyoming Qb an unsung star who was banged up last yr and still put up nice numbers...Should put up 14-20 on that Corn D...but their D is putrid...hmmm...no play on side but Neb TT looks spicy !

Follows from the note I made earlier in the thread. We have the fair line at 10. So we get some good perceived value. Line will finish at 7 IMO barring major injuries. We have never played games this early but believe any BS with injuries, carjackings, etc.. is pretty much random (insert SEC or ACC joke here) so will take our chances.

Penn St is going to be good. Now depth is an issue. That wont matter wk 1. QB is the other spot of ??. They have a super FR who will get work in August and our feeling is the way they coached up something called a McGloin last yr with turd receivers they will be fine this yr. And its not like FR QBs cant win. The thing we like is the stable of TE. My God they have like 4 guys better than Tony Gonzalez. And a good running game. And one stud WR. And an Einstein coach. They will work a game plan to make it easy. Syracuse?? New HC. New staff. New QB. Lose top 2 WR. Q on D other than LB. Their projected QB hasn't hit camp yet. Gonna be a transition yr. Syracuse wont run on Penn St. Game set match. Penn St will have no issue with a D that ranked 100 in pass D per Steele and gave up 36 35 26 27 20 last reg season games and then 14 in the snow game.

2 TD victory? We hope. At least a 40% chance we are wrong.

been starting to think about penn state as a play myself for many of the reasons you mentioned. no doubt, penn state's coaching and the massive player/coaching turnover at cuse are two huge advantages for the lions.

'homefield' won't be worth much either (if at all), as this game is being played at metlife stadium. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised at all to see far more penn state fans there. a little weekend trip to the big apple is an exciting idea when you live in state college.

in week 2 LY, cuse hosted top-ranked USC at metlife stadium and if they didn't show for that game, why would they for this one?

looked at a couple more...

north tex -16 idaho.....NT is gonna be better this yr and has a shot to make some ATS ...3rd yr for McCarney...17RS biggest Q is at DL and who takes the QB spot...only 20ppg last yr and not sure they have the explosive athletes they need....Idaho enters the P Petrino era and while their D was horrid and probably still will be...They have an exciting frosh qb that will try to win the job in spring and some JUCOS at rb that could help them score...OVERS?? anyway initial take was to look NT but now thinking its a pass given we have no idea what to expect from Idahos offense. pass.

SC -12 UNC....jeez yes its SEC vs ACC but that is why we have what is called a POINTSPREAD  so im not saying unc is gonna win but they have an experienced crisp offense with a very solid snr qb and while we hear about how bad their D is - they do have 4/4 returning in the secondary and have some athletes over there...SC 12 RS and it is not a 100% given they are gonna truck everyone especially a team we think can win 9 games...Lean UNC if it hits 14...may look at UNC TT over...watching.....

Lean Green not too bad at home....or when they're favored....> they take care of biz when they're supposed to
  *I like these teams that are used to getting beat up.....that finally have a chance to deliver an azz-whipping.....especially a frustrated O....that has a chance to score.......a lot

Pretty nice edge here..... in a pretty decent NT OL.....( 4/5 back from an OL that only allowed 6 sacks LY......#1 ).....vs a terrible Vandal Def front....no run stop and no pressure....(only 14 sacks...#112) .....NT adds a Texas (6-3/220) and Vandy transfer (6-5/225) at WR.....and brings back 2 pretty good runners.....QB Thompson is back....will be good enough here.....or might get beat out by Kansas transfer Berglund anyway.

Idaho HC Petrino will have to totally tear this thing down and rebuild....Akey was there for 6 years.....and finished 3-21 the last 2.....leaving Idaho as one of nation's worst.....his goal here will be to find guys that do things HIS WAY...NT's goal is to go to a bowl (have reasonable shot).....and after a step back last year....gotta have this one.......

  plus...this is an early KO at 6:00p.....game time temp should be 100 or so....and about 95 still at 9:00p......slightly warmer than Idaho

Another game.  

USC 22.5 Hawaii. 
It will get to 24 pts. We have the fair line 25-26. We are very high on USC this yr despite the asshat HC. If they get any kind of QB play will be scary. New DC brings 5 man front scheme hopefully they can create chaos and help secondary. Hawaii offense a mystery. Who will QB? Some say OL good. Others say crap. Will pro style off ever work there? OC fired. d could be sneaky good. Sooooo many ???

No play as of yet. Want to play USC but jeeeez laying 23 at the home of the fix?????

Auburn 13 Wash St
Lots of chatter about how bad Auburn is. What about Wash St? OL was arguably the worst in NCAA. Almost 60 sacks. Less than 2 YPC. Wtf??? We love Leach but a tough spot wk 1. Yes their D can put heat on the qb but we see this as a project and not a team that will go intO Auburn wk 1 and play well. Having said that. 13 pts??? We have fair line closer to 11. Malzhanzhnhn is a good offensive mind and has familiarity here but 13 pts?? We lean some kind of under play. Would Play auburn at 9.5 and Wash St at 14.5. We play the number and don't napalm a guys house if they are adamant on a side no matter what.
