How the last game went in 09 is irrelevant, imo. Tressel was the Coach then and the players are different. I would put more weight on current factors and how Urban Meyer gets things done. Ohio St. not only needs to beat Navy but they have to look impressive doing it for the Selection Committee if they end up B1G champs. Braxton went down but the Buckeyes won't throw in the towel.
You are wrong about the factors being different. What we are talking about is a team that never plays against a triple option trying to get passed an obviously inferior opponent.
But lets not even take that into account and look at current factors.
If a Big 10 team wants to get to the playoff game they will need to go undefeated. If a Big 10 teams goes undefeated they will be in the playoff game. Style points won't matter for this conference.
I HIGHLY doubt that Urban Meyer is looking at this game for "Style Points" when he just lost his all world quarterback and is now starting a freshman in his first game on the road.
Additionally, Ohio State has their largest recruiting game of the season on deck against Virginia Tech at night in the Shoe for the home opener.
Had Braxton been playing this game I would be all over Navy.
Miller being out for the season is a blessing in disguise for the Buckeyes. They weren't winning anything this year. They have MAJOR issues on the offensive line and the secondary is a joke. The fact that they get a full year to get these guy more reps and get Miller back next year will make all the difference. I would be shocked if they aren't in the title game next year assuming Brax gets healthy.
As for this game I think the line IS very strong in favor of Ohio State. Obviously odds makers are assuming the defensive line will make it impossible for the triple option to even get going. I'm not so sure about that as I haven't been as high on some of the players that others are. I would not be surprised to see Navy gash Ohio State in chunks and stay within the number.
This is an absolute no bet for me.

T.J. Barrett has been looking very good in practice! The teams that give OSU trouble are good passing teams not triple option teams. OSU scores 50 and covers easily!!!
I believe you mean J.T. Barrett

I think the best bet on the board is Under 56. Urban Meyer will be happy to just get a win against Navy, nobody is interested in running up the score against the service teams. I think Ohio States big and physical D line will create problems for the option and the new attack style of defense will be solid. Just need to make sure they aren't vulnerable to the unexpected big play. Offense will get things rolling with the speed. I see a 31-16 type of game.
BOL to all, just happy CFB is back!

OSU is a great team with or without Miller. Spread going up despite Miller. Problem is Navy at home. They do a lot of subbing in complete units and pretty much wear you down. They're lineman are a lot lighter and smaller than most teams they play. Due to physical requirements by the service agreements. The advantage they have though, is they're in better shape then most teams they play. It shows in the second half. I'll play Navy if you give me enough but if you want OSU, you better get them now or you'll give more points. GL
