I'm reading a lot about Thursday night home dogs/public money trends/etc. as to why people are betting on Oregon State.
Then I hear about the other side of the coin as to how Oregon State doesn't belong in the same stadium as USC, how there is this huge class gap between the two, the way they handled Ohio State, on and on and on...
I'm throwing out public money trends, Thursday night ESPN games, and all that other nonsense. The thing that I'm looking at is who is going to show up and be emotionally excited to play this game? Which team has this game circled on their schedule? Let me narrow it down for you...it's not USC.
As a matter of fact, this game will mean nearly NOTHING to USC, so expect less than 100% effort here on their part. Oregon State will be juiced up and give the best effort they have to give in their own building.
USC just got done playing the biggest singular regular season game on their schedule. Not only that but they are assuredly looking ahead to Oregon next week who essentially kept them out of the BCS title game last year. You just don't get up to play at emotionally high levels three games in a row...especially in the first month and a half of the season.
Will Oregon State win the game? No. Will they have what it takes to cover the number? In this situation, they should catch USC napping, and that's why Oregon State is getting my money here.
Wait a week to bet USC. This just isn't a good spot for them. Let them get back home and play a game that they'll have some motivation for.

1. Pac-10 Opener. The past two years, USC has played down to their competition and lost to lesser teams in the Pac-10. They are more focused and more determined to not let that happen this year.
2. Revenge Factor. OSU beat them 33-31 two years ago in Corvallis to break their 30 something game winning streak and contribute to them being shutout of the NC game. Don't think the players and coaches have forgotten about that.
3. Extra time for Pete. PC and the rest of the coaching staff has always been good at planning for games when they have more than a week to scheme. He's had 1 1/2 weeks to refocus after the Ohio State game and I see them coming out very motivated.
Just my take but I think a lot of people are looking at past USC teams and comparing their deficiencies with this team's. USC is much better at almost every position this year than the past two years (except maybe D-line) and I see them keeping OSU under 10 points and them scoring over 40.
Final Score Prediction: 48-10 USC

On a Thursday night with the national spotlight on them the Trojans will be amped and and ready to go from the opening kick-off. Don't forget, the Beavers beat USC 33-31 two years ago at Reser Stadium and pretty much knocked them out of national title contention (along with that loss to UCLA). With that complete meltdown last year vs Stanford, USC will not be taking any teams lightly this year. (Remember what they did the last time they played on a Thursday night: a 44-24 drubbing vs Arizona State) Pete Carroll knows he has a great chance to win a national championship this year with this extremely talented team and anything else but a championship will be a failure.
But enough about USC... The Beavers are not that good of a team this year. They had 86 rushing yards against Stanford and 92 vs Penn State. They will not get 100 rushing yards vs USC either. This will allow the Trojan defense to put heavy pressure on Moevao and in my opinion cause turnovers. I look for USC to pitch a shutout against the Beavers, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them get a field goal. OSU does make USC play an ugly game but SC has too many weapons. I think, and again I stress, I think, USC will jump out to an early 2 touchdown lead and never look back. To me, USC is looking to get redemption for that loss here two years ago.

LOL, you can't seriously think that when the Trojans got their schedules, they looked at it and circled OREGON STATE as a game they were looking forward to bringing it in. C'mon man.
Revenge factors only usually last for one season. USC got their revenge on the Beavers by beating them last yr 24-3 in the Coliseum. It's very difficult to get motivated for a team that is subpar to you and you are expected to beat down. It's just an athlete's nature. It's impossible to bring the same intense level of emotion each week so you get by when you can. This isn't a good spot for USC to cover a big spread.
Keep in mind, the spread opened at 19 when USC went to UVA. UVA is tied for being the worst team in college football w/ Wazzou. Oregon St isn't nearly as bad, is a conference foe, and is getting almost another full TD. Gotta think the oddsmakers are figuring the public will lay whatever # w/ USC at this point.

Have to disagree with you on this one. Oregon State is an example of what a bottom feeder team does to a high rank team when they are napping or looking ahead. As one person in here already said Oregon State stung USC a couple years ago. Carol will make sure his team remembers that game. Not saying he isn't going to pull some players at the end of the game when they are way ahead and a late touch down screws the spread. I just say they come out fired up.

Have to disagree with you on this one. Oregon State is an example of what a bottom feeder team does to a high rank team when they are napping or looking ahead. USC will 'get up' for every game this season. After stomping the Buckeyes they now know that they can and should win the BCS championship. After letting Oregon State and Stanford fuck their seasons up the past 2 years they will not take anyone lightly. USC will run all over the Beaver's defense just like Stanford did. Once they open up the running game Sanchez will pick apart the OSU secondary. I want to know how Oregon State is going to put up any points on the best defense in the country. I know they have a decent passing attack but that doesn't worry me in the least. With the PAC 10 being weak this year USC is going to run up the score on anyone and everyone to show everybody how good they really are. I'm going to bet like a square on this one and take USC and the over. I wouldn't be surprised if USC put up 50 themselves.

Impossible. I don't know about you, but I don't "get up" every single day for work, or for my daily workouts, or Church on Sundays, or anything that I do routinely. There are some days you look forward to and some days you just simply don't. We're not robots, we're human beings. And that's exactly what I'm handicapping this game upon...the human element of this game.
Think about how you feel going into work on Monday mornings versus how you feel going to work on Friday mornings. For USC it's Monday morning, for Oregon State it's Friday morning.
On paper, you can't compare the two teams. You can't. One team is clearly superior. But the other has emotion in their corner, and that's the team that I like tomorrow night.

as a Beaver alum..this will be a no play for me--as much as I want the Beavs, I can't pull the trigger...
1) I don't think Moevao (QB) will be the problem 2) OSU will not be able to stop the run--the entire front 7 was replaced this year-and they did not look good against Stanford(!) or Penn State. 3) Kicking game (PK and punting) have been suspect this year.
