It would be so poetic if the Sooners and Cats were matched up in a BCS bowl game in January. In 1978 I remember Billy Sims fumbling on the 3 as he was going in for the game winning TD and Nebraska won ruining the nat'l championship for OU. Then Tom Osborne and Bob Devaney get the phone call from the Orange Bowl committee informing them that their opponent would be Oklahoma. Tom Osborne's face said it all as he listened to that phone call. There was a stunned silence in the room in Lincoln and the Orange Bowl rep had to repeatedly say...Hello..Hello..And Osborne broke out in an incredulous smile. I swear I think he literally shit his pants. He knew exactly what was coming. And he was right. The Sooners dominated that game against a great Husker team..........Take a look. It's classic. Somehow I don't think Snyder will be smiling if he gets the same call.

FOR A DIME.....
My pick for the key player to watch for OU: Fullback Trey Millard. That's right, the fullback. This guy is built like a tank at 235. He demolishes the opposition when clearing the way for big play halfback Damian Williams. In Millard's last 3 games he's averaged 7.8 yards/carrt from the fullback spot and caught 13 passes for 200 yards and 15.5 yards/catch. Millard will be assigned to spy against Manti Te'o when protecting Jones. But just as quickly he can hit the seam running with the ball or catching it down the middle and has a habit of hurdling opposing defenders as they close to tackle as he rambles down the field.
The big question for the Irish is how do they defend such a diverse attack covering the halfback Williams...the fullback Millard...the big play receivers Stills and Brown and still put pressure on Jones? The Sooners are clicking on all cylinders. Big plays have been plentiful the past 3 games. How much pressure can the ND withstand? This ain't Mich St, Mich or Navy they're defending.

Here's what the Sooners are doing differently this year as opposed to the past several years.
1) The Running Game - It's back. Williams has the burst and moves to take it 80 at any time. Millard from the fullback position will punish as a blocking back and then roam the flat and down the seam catching passes for long gains. His athleticism and instincts for the game are impressive. These are options Landry Jones hasn't had before. He's only had 3 intercepts this season. Why? Because if teams load up on rushing the passer they will get burned by Williams and Millard or over the top or with draw plays and screens. I haven't seen screens and draws from Jones in 3 years. He is as accurate as Bradford and when he's on throws lasers. If he doesn't get trapped into throwing on the run to the wrong guy ND will have a long day/night.
2) Wide Receivers - A weakness early in the season because they were all new other than Stills with the spring suspensions. Brown from Penn St has become a monster down the field and returning kicks. Stills is still making spectacular grabs for big gains. But more importantly the receiver corps has gone from almost no cohesiveness early to huge cohesiveness now.
3) Defense - Sooner defense has been pretty bad the last few years. Now Venables has been booted and Mike Stoops has transformed it. Safety Tony Jefferson has great instincts and hits like a linebacker. Tom Wort at linebacker overpowers his opposition. And the young corners are playing lights out and challenging opposing receivers and winning the battles. The D line is strong and quick and can pressure from the edges.
4) Blake Bell @ QB - The guy is a freight train near the goal line. As good as Tebow was running the football. Look out in this game when ND loads up to stop him from taking it in and he takes the snap and raises up to throw it to somebody wide open in the endzone.
5) ND Secondary - It's a weakness for them. Based on the above observations they are in danger of being picked apart and big plays should be plentiful for the Sooners.
Bottom line....this team has gelled since early in the season. ND hasn't come close to facing an offense this quick and this good. If the Sooner secondary plays like I think they will and creates the turnovers I expect...then this 38 pts turns into 45-50 and we could be looking at another Texas like game. All in spite of the fraud BGB.
