Tennessee took no time off this week.  They began their preparation for Bama immediately.  They now have 5 days of Bama practice under their belt.

I am ready to fade Bama if I can get another crazyline, but I'm not sure if I'm prepared to take the Vols on the ML.

I realize that was a little confusing, and I apologize for that.

I said all along that South Carolina would be a problem game for Bama, and I was planning on playing USC.  But after I watched the Florida game replay several times, I was very impressed with what I was seeing from Bama's defense.  I mentioned that in the writeup.

Therefore I gave a projected final score based on the best information, and the best read I had on the game at that time.  But I also concluded the write-up by saying if you liked South Carolina, I recommended a 1st half play, and if you liked Bama, I recommended a 2nd half play.  Of course I was 100% wrong about my remarks concerning Bama's defense.

There has been a lot of what I believe to be postering from Nick Saban about Julio Jones's availablilty for the Ole Miss game.  I was informed by my sources On Sunday about this injury almost immediately after the surgery, and at that time I was told he'd be out 3-4 weeks, which is what I posted.

All week Saban has been saying that Julio can play if he can tolerate the pain, and that whether he plays or not will be a game-time decision.  Saban has also been saying that Julio has practice pretty much all week, and that he has been catching passes in practice.

I really think this is just a strategic move on Saban's part to keep Houston Nutt and Ole Miss guessing as to Julio's status.  I really don't think Saban has any intention of playing him, so I will stand by my original prediction that Julio won't play this week.  I would say there is a possibility that he could play next week, but I think it is more likely we'll see him back for the LSU game.  Thus, I think my 3-4 week projection for his return will turn out to be pretty accurate in the end.

Expect ESPN II to announce tomorrow that Julio will be out for the game just prior to kickoff. 

After losing last week, Bama is looking to make a statement at homecoming that they are still the best team in the country.  With 2 weeks to prepare for Bama, however, I expect Houston Nutt's team to play Bama very tough.  Bama may pull away a bit in the 2nd half like they usually do, but I think Ole' Miss will keep this under the number.  I look for a 28-16 type of a score.

As a general rule, I will almost automatically play any team getting 20+ points in a SEC game.  This game is no exception.

No idea what the books did or didn't know, but somehow I seriously doubt Nick Saban made a call to let them know.  Nevertheless, I posted the info 24-hours before it was released to the public.  That info did not result in getting a more favorable line however.
