Come on guys it is clear as day it was a classic let down.
How do you expect a team to rebound by January 2 after such a heartbreaker December 6? I would expect at least needing a month to six weeks. 'Bama had nothing to play for. All the NFL scouts were at Miami getting ready for a Sam Bradford sighting.
This logic has been proven, if you look back at 2007 'Bama also lost a non-conf game to FSU only because of the OT defeat the week before to Georgia in OT. Another heartbreaker. Otherwise a DD win for the Tide.
As soon as we can all accept this we can begin to answer why did Tennessee lose to underdog UCLA in both 2008 & 2009? Afterall there is no way a Pac 10 doormat, with Neuheisel as a coach, could beat a superior SEC team.

You want me to prove that Alabama didn’t want to be in that bowl game and to Utah it was the biggest game in the history of their football program?
So you are admitting that you honestly don’t already know that?
It was a big game for Utah for sure. But it was also a big game for Bama. Was it not? I am saying that your prove it argument that you used above is the same argument that can be said for the notion that Bama did not want to be there and tanked the game.
can not have it both ways.

No, it was not. Compared to Utah, this wasn’t a big game for Bama.
It’s not the same thing. I gave my opinion about what would have happened if an event that never occurred would have taken place.

So, how about not compared to Utah.. was it still a big game for Alabama?
You would have to ask Alabama fans that. After that loss to Florida all the Bama fans I know acted more excited about their spring game than they did about the sugar bowl.

I stated my opinion about what I thought would most likely have happened in a hypothetical situation and satnightfever keeps responding with the intellectual equivalent of “I know you are but what am I.”
