It only means that money was coming in on the other side, that's why the line moved DOWN, and then BACK UP...using your twisted logic, Vegas thinks both teams will win.

so i ask you... do you know what makes a line move?  i'll give you a hint: it has nothing to do with conpiracies, and everything to do with money...

No I think the line is funny because
 
the matchup is
#7 (11-1) Texas Tech
vs.
(8-4) Ole Miss
 
and the line was down to (-3.5)
this to me says take texas tech because they should be a MUCH better team based on their ranking and record
However, if Ole Miss were such a bad team
why would the line be so low?
why would they even be matched up in the same game?
I felt like this is a trap to take texas tech purely based on these things ..
I thought sandream was trying to say that the line moved from 6 to 3 and that was due to the fact that VEGAS wanted us to be OLE MISS 
 
it just didn't make sense to me

I can't really say too much on that subject I am not looking at each conferences standings and I have not studied their overall records etc....
 
If you know where the conferences stack up please list them...

well, you might be right that NOW Vegas wants money on Tx Tech... because they opened the line at (-7) and there has obviously been a lopsided amount of money on Ol Miss, enough to bring the line down to (-3.5)... but that doesn't mean they set the line at (-3.5) to get money on them... they set it at (-7), and when they saw they were getting uneven action, they kept moving the line until they started getting even action... hence, the line is now (-3.5)...

personally, i would stack the conferences something like this, basing it partly on overall depth, but also factoring the strength of the top teams...

1) Big 12 (3 teams in the top 7, 5 in the top 20)

2) SEC (not very deep at all this year, but Fla and Bama in the top 6)

3) ACC (deepest overall conference by far)

4) Pac 10

5) Big East

6) Big 10

 

Sagarin has ACC as #1, but i suspect he goes more by overall depth... Pac-10 and ACC are tough to call, because one is so deep, the other is more loaded at the top... obviously, the top teams in the SEC matchup with the top from the Big 12... but the Big 12 has more at the top, and slightly better depth...

people might argue Big 10, because Penn St is a top 5 team, and Ohio St is near the top 10... but the dropoff after those two is so severe its pathetic... and the Big East has much more depth... i would call it a toss up with those two...

What I SAID was that I used the ACC SUCKS theory on New Year's Day. The Big East better than the ACC? Hmmm....not sure...but I will tell you that taking into consideration the strength of the conferences does matter in bowl games and inter-conference play...are you saying it doesn't?

EXACTLY...and one could even say that the OLE PISS hoopla going on right now is because of that opening line...now that it has dropped, the hoopla continues, but the smart bet is on Tech...I am glad I waiting until yesterday to bet it.

Trap? No...just money moving the line as always.

this opinion is NOT solely based off this seasons performance but....
1. SEC -- Florida-Alabama-Georgia-
2. Big 12 -(close 2nd) we are seeing what happens to big 12 in the bowls -- Mizzou looked average Ok st looked like shit against Oregon -- we will find out more tomorrow that is for sure
3. Pac 10 -- USC -- Oregon -- Arizona - Oregon st.
4.ACC - VA Tech -- deep ass league 10 bowls teams
5. Big 10 -- penn st.-- ohio st. -- mich. st -
6. Big East -- Great conference but not their best season -- cincy what happened to this champ -- every other team in this league was down this season
