makes no sense to me, always thought $ moved the line, but have seen it a few times lately.  the $ was also on Chargers last week and the line dropped...

It does...just because 85 percent of the bettors are on one side, does not mean it is more money.

i thought it was 83% of the $, not 83% of the bets...could be wrong, but pretty sure that's what it means...

83% of the bets are on Ol Miss... that's what that % means...

so, if 83 people bet $10 each, and 17 people bet $100 each, it will only show you that 83% of the bets are on Ol Miss, and nothing about the money...

think about it!  why would the line drop from 6 to 4 if more money was being bet on Tx Tech?  lemme guess: conspiracy theory?

Well, i will not be backing Ole Miss for 1 reason.  Houston Nutt is a miserable coach when it comes to getting a team prepared to win a bowl game (2-7).  And before you say anything, I followed his azz for 10 years at Arkansas.  Let me ask you this, If you got Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis in your backfield and never win a bowl game with them, how can you expect Ole Piss to beat a very solid Texas Tech?  Not saying he won't pull the ole' rabbit of the hat again today...but I would tread lightly if your backing the Rebs..I will gladly pound a dropping Texas Tech line, and have a great feeling I will be setting on a handride very early...

For what it is worth I think you are both right.  I too am not certain about this game.  My initial lean was Texas Tech of all the high profile games (vs. TX and vs. OK, etc) I only went against them with Oklahoma.  I think the problem is that TT will be relying too much on an injuried Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree (they are not 100% by any means).  I am not convinced that the Ole Miss pass rush will get to Harrell (as basically not many has with TT O-Line) but I can see the argument that Ole Miss can matchup well though.  Therefore I am torn and currently leaning Ole Miss because they are getting points and they are an SEC team with a better SOS.  We shall see what I finally lock in closer to game time but BOL to all!

Thank you for this. I never knew Nutt was that bad. I do know that TTech is around 1st in D1 for least allowed sacks and I believe Ol' Miss will have just as hard of a time getting to Harrell. The reason I didn't go heavier on TTEch is the perception and motivation of these guys being in an unmeaningful bowl.

What a load of crap in this thread.  Gambling = entertainment, few people make a living at gambling (except your bookie and the books), Sundream is right, the juice is what matters to the books. 
 
The weather in Dallas is excellent for a high scoring affair, no wind, 70 degrees.  Tech will be healthy especially defensively) and ready for a offensively challenged Miss team.  Tech coach has had a month to game plan for a good defense (see USC coach in Rose Bowl yesterday and the big bad Penn State defense).  If this is a shoot out do you really thing Miss can hang with tech ???  Tech by 16.

I didn't read all the posts, so forgive me if it has already been posted...  Although Crabtree is without a doubt the best widereciever Tech has, Graham Harrell normally passes to at least 7 wide recievers (includes any back as well) during the course of a game.  Crabtree gets a small percentage of the actual passes, especially in games where he is double-teamed.  I actually hope they do double team him and let the other wideouts run slants all day. Ole Miss' D will be impressive today with their blitz packages, but so will Tech's offense as they will put up some points IMO.

Bowl games are about conferences, coaches and motivation.  Sometimes very tough to predict.  I'm not sure the Big 12 is as strong as people say?  Oky state losing and Missouri going to overtime against mighty Northwestern .....
 
Vegas does set lines to get equal action, unfortunately, that doesn't always happen.  They cannot predict how the public is going to bet, hence line movement...  They do ok with JUICE too.........
