Let's get some discussion going regarding the biggest game of the opening weekend
Basically a home game for my Hokies at FedEx and I am just wondering what people are thinking here as far as spreads are concerned and where teams have significant advantages over each other...
Is it just me or does anyone else think this will be a high scoring game?? I love the VT offense this year and their D will take a little while to mesh with all the new players coming into the team.
Really excited about this one and already bought my front row seat

kind of like boise here myself at anything under 3,,could see some points being put up on the border,,kind of figured you would be front and center for this one

Right now my only play would be the over. I agree that everything I have read says this should be one of VT best offenses in years. Pair that with Boise's DC leaving, I feel like we will see plenty of points on VT side. Then you always have to figure on trick plays when you are playing Boise, so you might have a cheap score there as well.

I cant say I really know enough about Boise at this point to even say anything about how the game will go.....
All that I do know from last year is that Kellen Moore can get rattled and make bad decisions. That crowd will be insane and very pro-Hokie in DC on Labor Day. Overall they probably have the better squad in Boise but I think a combo of the Hokie running game and crowd noise getting to Moore completely wash out the different in skills.....
Should be a great one

Not sure where you are getting this from. I am not a Boise fan by any means but one thing that Kellen Moore doesn't seem to do is get rattled. 39 TD's only 3 int's .
Peterson will out coach Beamer like he does every other coach. I actually think Boise will be favored and I think Boise covers.

yeah.... Kellen is 26-1 as a starter and has beat some good teams.
Kellen and Boise S.T is the real deal.

I don't even want to get involved with this game after what happened opening week last year with Boise St and Oregon.
I think Boise, having the entire off season to prepare for one game, can catch a BCS team off guard. Had that Oregon game have been played in week 6 I would expect a ducks win. (Oregon's play calling was horrible for the opener)
I have to respect Coach Petersen, as he has proved that given preperation time he will have Boise ready to play.

Gotta agree with you. I've never seen him "rattled". I've seen him make a mistake but it's usually not a costly one. He's a pretty cool customer.

Ditto. My feeling is that VT is overrated coming into the season. Boise will win this game and get way too much credit. Hopefully they trip up somewhere else along the way, Oregon State obviously will challenge them. At Nevada isn't a slam dunk. Not hard to get up for your best opponents though when you only play a couple decent teams a year.

Admittedly I dont watch a lot of Boise but I do watch the big games. I saw them play Oregon, LaTech and TCU last year. I distinctly remember him making terrible decisions when under pressure. He threw a horrendous pick 6 to La Tech in the 3rd Q off of his back foot because he had been hit the play before and got antsy. He fumbled away the ball TWICE in the 4th Q of the Oregon game and they relied heavily on running the ball to set up the pass in that game. He managed the game very well against TCU but didnt throw a touchdown and relied mainly on throwing 0-5 yard routes....
So what I drew from these games are that hes putting up big numbers against terrible teams and I havent seen him play a true road game in some time. I like the kid and he has an accurate arm but he is completely unproven in my eyes. Yeah 39 TD's with only 3 INT's is impressive but who really cares. Bring him into a raucous environment and well see how he does. He won in Autzen 2 years ago but that was before they even began playing Masoli...
We shall see I guess
This isnt a WAC game, this is against the big boys in a noisy, hostile environment
But allow yourselves to be blinded by the gaudy numbers

Hokies defense will be very unproven in this one...
Which means probably susceptible to a few trick plays because Boise isnt good enough to beat teams like TCU legitimately.
As I said I see this game being a tossup and by no means do I think the Hokies roll here. I do think both teams move it on each other though. I just hope my Hokies find a big pass rusher to pressure Moore. If we do, it will be a long night for the Broncos

I will be on either team as a Underdog of 3.5+ Points or more ...
Not sure how you guys see alot of Points ....
thinking 19-16 type game
Well you have never projected VT to score above 7 so I suppose I should be flattered you are tossing them in the 16-19 range. The Hokies defense is extremely young and unseasoned, while the Hokies offense will be awesome this season. A 19-16 game is out of the question in my eyes

Boise is for real slick......keep telling yourself there not, and they will smack V.T in the Mouth.
OK
They roll an SEC school 37-14 in a bowl game and it just gets overlooked. He wins an ACC Championship and an Orange Bowl the year before.Has them in position to beat Alabama in the first game last season with a lead in the 4th Q....But Moore has beaten a fellow non-BCS squad in a Fiesta Bowl and looked like shit in doing so....
Hey, maybe Clemson will underperform again. When is the last time they beat T-Mobile? Oh yeah, you got him as a freshman and lost 41-23 in DEATH VALLEY. In case you forgot, that score was 31-5 at one point. But hey, atleast you came into Lane the year before as a top 10 team and only lost by 17....
