Week 5 Money

I have seen alot of things in my life and I have been very fortunate in my life, however, this has been a tough week.  I haven't every witnessed someone going 0-11 in one day, much less ever went through anything like that.  I made some very poor picks and had some bad luck on some.  The reason I have been so successful with betting in the past is because I have always been able to adapt regardless of the situation.  I was excited going into this past week because I had gone 2-4 for two consecutive weeks and just knew I would bounce back and win.  Little did I know the worst weekend of my gambling life was ahead.  When Saturday began I started off poorly of course but was okay mentally as I followed the Air Force game, I felt great about that play for the entire game and knew it was going to win, when the bottom fell out and the Aztecs got the miracle cover I was mad for about an hour.  Then I started losing everything in sight and was no longer mad.  I was now shocked.  Anyhow, I had today to reflect on things and I could either hang it up for the season and just wait until next year or I could just pretend it didn't happen and start fresh with a new attitude and try to chip away at my early season losses.  I chose to keep going, probably because I have never failed at anything I decided to do and probably because I just think I can adapt to the lines and win.  Maybe I will turn out to be the best fade on the website (like I have been lately- Joe Bren like) or maybe I will start winning this week and just keep on winning.  I think I will be fine and start winning this week and get on a run.  Enough of my lousy weekend of betting story, now to football

I went 0-7 this week so I'm trying to bounce. The air force lost was tought to swallow.

 

This are the game that I'm looking right now.

 

Syracuse +7 (This team is playing very good at home and USF would play Cinncy the week after)

Wake -1 (This team is better than NCST)

UNC -14 (Revenge)

Why Geo is -2 against LSU. Is this line correct?

Miami +6 (a team for big 12 given points in the coast of FL.The last time I saw this was thursday night and Miami beat Texas A&M by 30 points. This is going to be a close game 3 or less).

Ariz state -5 (Oregon state is not a good team this year).

Stanford -6 (This is one of the best team to bet this year).

Ark/Texas A&M might be an easy over

Cal +6 or money Line

 

It has been a tough season so far but the things will turn around soon. I appreaciate your insight on these games.

WahooS I have had something close to your weekend a couple of times in my betting life. And you are doing the right thing. Take a day to process it and accept it, then get back on the horse. You are a knowledgeable capper that will always end up + because  you know how to win and manage your money. I will place a bet that you win more games than you lose this weekend. think i'm just going to bet 3 games this weekend and stop there----and start to climb back.  i seem to get in trouble when i bet 6-8 games.  too much crazy shit in college football happening this year to win consistently.

game 1 of this week probably for me is....Oklahoma.  i wanted to be on that side before the MIA debacle (and was hoping they beat VaTech to make it my play of the year).  rarely do i like laying that number on the road, but their defense is better than last year and secondary is better than anything MIA has seen.  with MIA being so undisciplined and having a bad gameday coach---sooners roll here, landry jones or not.  miami's o-line is going to be on its back a lot in this one.

seems like lots of veteran cappers on this site are struggling, based on that fact I am feeling very fortunate to be holding my own around even,,it has been tuff sledding tho,,Houston and the UNDER was a great way to put the wraps on a long saturday, hang tuff wahoo

believe it or not, one year i was overseas, and didn't get to watch any football... all i could do was read box scores, and at one point late in the season i just threw out 13 plays (although 2 were NFL picks) to see what would stick... basically i was just gambling, cuz i had some money to burn... went 0-13... 1 in 8192 chance of doing that, assuming a 50/50 chance on each game...

 

makes me not feel quite as bad about having a 5-9 week this week... but the Air Force loss still burns...

 

lot of people are trying to tell me how i should be betting... that's what pisses me off the most... i've done this for 17 years, and there has never in those 17 years been a first month like this... and so they see the one anomalous year and think they are gonna school me on how to bet on college football...

 

anyway, got in my plays for the week... keeping it simple... if i can't win this week i will hang it up until November...

 

every year it tends to start off with favs killing the books, only to have lines get adjusted, the public hop on board, and the books get it all back 5-fold... this year it has gone the other way... part of me thinks the role will reverse itself... but still tough to say... i know a few trends that have never failed, and even this year they are money... just gonna stick with those until i get a better feel for the way it will unfold...

 

your (OUR) Air Force pick was a great pick... but the team that covers isn't always the right pick... unfortunately...

 

While I disagree with anyone who thinks Air Force was the correct side in that football game , you are a very good capper Wahoo.  Anyone who has read at this site knows that is the case.  The reality is that good handicappers like you are only going to win at 56-57% .  That means that at some point during your betting career , you are going to go through a stretch where you lose 11 or 12 or 15 games in a row.  That is just the nature of the beast.  Take the time to determine if you are doing anything differently and take the time to determine if the game is different in some way.  If  you conclude that neither is the case , then you just have to grin and bear it like you are doing.  I have a lot of faith in your handicapping ability.  A lot more than other people who might have gone 9-2 over the same stretch of his last 11 plays.  The short term can be a brutal thing or a beautiful thing but it is the long term winner that survives.

I have been bettins for 25 yrs.  I have never seen anyone go 0-11.  Your problem; Road teams, and high favorites for Home teams.  You have been playing road teams like crazy. You are giving too many points at home with horrible teams (Air force).  This week I will fade you on one parlay and take your picks on the other.  I have been doing very well with you this year (no offense).  I hope you keep posting, and when you get hot, it will be after week 4, I will be there.  But you are playing some teams that make you shake your head (Buffalo, etc.).  Good Luck man.

Wahoo great thread, well written and oh so true.I'm not a big  better by any means and bet because I enjoy the action and the games and bet on both football and baskets .This season has taken the fun out of college football , can not pick a winner and have not sat down and enjoyed the games either.Losing interest and spend less time capping the games.

 

Is it just me? or are all going through this.As I get older and health is failing aches and pains more and more plus work in a depressed area lots of layoffs real slow at any economy recovery makes for a worse mood and put that all together makes losing every week a real depressent.

 

Again not a big better have not lost my home my car or my family and  still have a bankroll left to play with but not much interest.

"Bettins" for 25 years, huh? And never seen 0fer 11? And road teams are Hoo's problem? Tell you what, why don't you go back and review the first 4 weeks of the college football season and let me know what the ratio of Away to Home teams covering the number is..... more specifically, take a look at last week. No. Don't. I'll tell you. Last week the Away team covered in 27 games while the Home team covered in 23. Furthermore, for the season to date, it's within 2  games!!!

 

Hoo manned up to a poor performance last week (which is more than I can say for alot of the "respected cappers" around here), I'm pretty sure he doesn't need anyone telling him what his "problem" is. He wears big boy pants which is evident by the way he handled this situation. So before you come into his thread and make generalized statements about "Away teams" and "High favorites for home teams" and how Hoo may be a great fade for a parlay this upcoming week, do some research and get your facts straight. Provide some reasoning and logic to your brief generalizations. Thanks.
