I'm a hoops guy so I understand the aversion to gyms but it does help to knock out a couple sets of quality pushups every day whether you are hitting the gym or not. The "inside" hands touching pushups will keep you from looking scrawny. Three sets to fatigue would be best, but if you don't want to take a shower, then just do two sets to fatigue. EVERY Day by the way.
If you can find a pull up bar, then you are golden. Superset pullups with pushups three times to fatigue, once per day,
Skip all that slow treadmill crap. That is for little old ladies. Go outside and SPRINT.... then RUN.... short doses are okay as long as you push it.

Man, I can't believe we are here giving weight loss advice to a guy who weighs 150
Look 3Ball, this may sound harsh but this will jump start you.
If you are gonna be short, then you BETTER be ripped.
Skip all that herbal mumbo jumbo and go to the chicken and tuna fish thread and repeat that process for 60 days.
First goal is to get ripped, can work on the hair and shit later.
lol, i dont know why height is such an issue?? being healthy should be for everybody not just tall people?? and although this thread was initially titled 'how to lose a beer gut' it is also about being healthy over all.
The herbs is vital to repair my system from the neglect it suffered while i was abusing it and no it wasn't just a mere case of junk food and a few beers i'm talking about alcoholism and severe binges on junk food on some serious shit. My body was/is extremely toxic and when your body is highly toxic it leaves it vulnerable to deceases such as cancer.
My aim is to be toned, not neccessarily ripped but i would be happy to be ripped one day but not really my aim.

I just STARTED working out six weeks ago. Almost set for the year you weirdo.
Get off your ass.
haha, i feel what your saying and love the motivation FriedShrimp. I have a 2 yr old son and a newly built apartment i've been slaving at work over working a lot of over time almost everyday and working some weekends. Many new changes have entered my life since posting this as i mentioned earlier in this thread. It's not so easy and convenient to eat as healthy as i want or work out as much as i want when you have obligations such as family, work, mortage etc.. that is the reason why i have decided on making this a "healthy lifestyle" sort of thing as i mentioned earlier in this thread.
My discipline in my diet and excercise will manifest in weight loss and fitness and in turn will lose my gut in that manner or system.

Just glanced at your menu there. Pretty exotic and congrats on all the changes but don't burn yourself out. Eat what you want but keep it in check.
If you are working out, then I would say you definately need more protein in that diet. Also, unless you are at the weight you want to be at, wouldn't even think of eating pasta for dinner. Once you get to the weight you want to stay at, then maybe but not in reduction mode. The pasta sauce is fine, it is the PASTA which is pure carbs dude.
Another thought is the treadmill thing. Sprinting on concrete or grass is NOTHING compared to sprinting on a treadmill. It's painfull but also really quick.
Thanks FriedShrimp!! my change in diet is almost revolutionary in itself as i have cut all processed foods/refined carbs etc. all together and only eating live foods/vegeis/fruits etc. I am eating free range chicken and sea food as mentioned and your right about the pasta thing, i shouldn't be eating it at night. either way i am eating whole meal pasta.I was also talking about meat sauce in pasta that i don't eat but will consume tomatoe based sauces. with the protien thing coz i work out i am slowly trying to adjust and get the right sort of protein in my diet that can help give me energy and not consume too much meats at the same time.
My new treadmill is pretty hardcore and can set it at a high sprint speed. I bought it for winter as it's almost Winter down here in Australia and is very convenient for those wet days. My knees/legs have taken a pounding from all the outdoor ball sessions i have done throughout my life so the treadmill is a great way to not only help to keep running and running on wets days but but to protect my knees/legs by limiting the impact on my knees/legs are exposed to by running and playing ball on conrete.

tell ya what 3Ball (There are too many messages here for me to read 'em all...so forgive me if I'm repeating what someone else has contributed..)
I'm 58 years old this year and am still a west coast heli logger (faller)..I'm in prime physical shape but once had a beer gut in my sloppier times..Got rid of it by:
(1)drink minimum 9 glasses of water per day..1 extra glass per day for every 10 lbs. overweight you are..
(2)limit the amount of BREAD that you eat..(I eat NONE) and I really think that it works to cut it ALL out..
(3)STOP eating anywhere near bed time..2-3 hours man..
(4)I eat stuff like bananas, avocados, pea soups, bean soups, lots of fibre..because where does all this fat go ??? INTO THE TOILET...so clear out your intestines....When you go to the supermarket, shop only around the outside perimeter for food..This is a standard rule of thumb, as soon as you start firing food from the aisles into your shopping cart, your on the road to disaster..
Such a large amount of water you say???
One MUST train himself to drink water...It doesnt come naturally..Pissing every 20 minutes will stop after a couple of weeks..Getting up in the middle of the night will stop after a couple of weeks...BUT...IF YOU STOP THE ROUTINE OF DRINKING WATER, you'll have to start the whole program all over again...What all this means is that your kidneys and liver process fat and to do that they need WATER...In my humble opinion diet is the only thing that gets rid of the burl...I had the beer gut even with the strenuous excercise that I do...Good Luck and don't break your word to yourself !!!

Eating healthy and being active "is" a lifestyle. Its good though. Kind of a pain in the ass finding quality food every 2-3 hours but its better. Just have to plan ahead. I cook a lot for fun so that makes it tons easier. One tip I would suggest is cook more than one meal at a time so you have leftovers for the next day. Instead of cooking 2 chicken breasts, go ahead and roast up 2 chickens. Can turn the leftovers into something good.
Stump brought up a good point in that water is good.
Keep it up

Wow my last post in here was on the 16th of May last year. It's been so long. funny It seems the 3 times i come back in this thread around the same time April/May-ish.
Here's an update but before that i just skimmed through some replies and almost forgot how helpful all of you were. Great, helpful advice that helped me significantly!!! Thanks all of you again, so very much appreciated!!!
Update
Well since May 2009 i have continued to regularly consume Fruits & Vegetables to the point having a side of vegetables with my food has been a part of every meal i have, many times i just have vegetables on it's own. I have fruits every morning almost without fail and during the day (usually used for desert for sugar intake with Nuts & yogurt). I still take my Omega-3 & multi-vitamins daily, as well as Tea with Barley grass. I posted in here that i wanted to practice healthy eating and diet until it becomes part of my life, well, it has . It's been over a year now and Vegetables and fruits is just a normal part of my life now. In fact just as i write this i've just realized i actually crave them daily. This is such a massive revolution to my diet since posting this back in September 2008.
I have been maintaining my cardio workouts, 30 mins run outside or the treadmill as often as i can maybe 3-4 times a week. I also still do weights maybe about 3 times a week. I still play pick-up basketball games every Sundays for 2 hrs and i am also playing league basketball (we just recently lost the semi's ).
My physique has certainly changed. I am leaner, you can tell by my face that i have really toned down. Because i eat well & exercise often & my body has changed i have been eating more of that refined foods that i said i would totally cut down on. Not alot but i did say i would cut them out indefinitely. I should be far more disciplined but i have been working hard on this whole healthy lifestyle thing considering i have been juggling work & family which takes up most of your time and energy.
You might be wondering how my gut is going, well.......................the results aren't quite there as much as it has been in all other parts of my body but with me getting more toned, the cardio work and being more active it has slimmed down some what. It hasn't improved as much as i want but it is the reason why i am still determined. I won't be happy until i can see my abs but the results are there i just have to keep disciplined. As i stated this is a lifestyle thing and am still practicing that.
One thing i am doing that is new is i am now taking Whey Protein Powder after each exercise which has been great for repairing my body for the following day. I take the one that is all natural soy so i don't gain weight from it......................and another thing that is new in my life.................a beautiful baby girl born in March 2010
I truly enjoy to work out now. It's almost an obsession i think about the next time i can go for a run or go on the crt for a shoot around and do some suicides. And as i stated i crave fruits and vegies. This is all indicative of how well i;ve been doing i guess spite of the fat still around the gut area i have become more leaner and healthier which has been a great step forward from where i was almost 2 years ago.
How has everybody been?
