*****: Hi Tony, thanks for taking the time to talk with me this morning, I know you are a busy guy. Tony: how can I help you today? *****: I
was hoping to talk with you about your teams' decision to grade last
night Miz tickets on Wrestlemania as a "cancelled" rather than a "win" *****: Would it be possible to reconsider this decision? *****: I have been a long-time customer of 5dimes Tony: no, all decision are final Tony: and that decision is the correct one *****: And while I hate saying it, I don't think I've ever withdrawn any funds on my account and have deposited regularly Tony: if you can't live with my decisions on such events, ...do not bet on them *****: Well I was told that if I had any questions or concerns to ask you, so I was attempting to do so *****: The official WWE website lists Miz as defeating Cena Tony: did you watch the event? *****: Would it be possible to work something out like having you grade the ticket a winner and putting a roll over on it perhaps? *****: Yes of course Tony: and who did they announce as the winner in the fight initially ? *****: Initially it was announced as a double count-out, but the final decision as announced by the ring announcer was a Miz victory *****: Which is what is stated on the WWE website itself *****: I'm not looking to hit and run on you here Tony *****: I was hoping to have the funds available to risk on baseball this year Tony: 5Dimes does not recognize suspended games, protests, overturned decisions, etc., for wagering purposes.

******: Hence why I suggested the compromise of a roll-over requirement on a graded ticket? Tony: as soon as it is announced a "draw", it is graded Tony: there is no compromise Tony: some people lose Tony: some people win Tony: that is it ******: But it wasn't graded immediately Tony, until 10 minutes after the event ended ******: Every other match was graded immediately except that one Tony: as i was in the car on the way home and got a phone call Tony: i watched the tape Tony: and i rendered the decision ******: Right ******: I understand that Tony: as i said at the start of this chat ******: There has to be a guy who says "yes or no" Tony: when people complain about my decisons, all it does it make me not want to offer these events Tony: people want to bet on them, then cry when anything they deem as marginal doesn't go their way ******: I
understand that. I wasn't trying to complain Tony, I was just hoping to
be able to ask you to reconsider your decision. If you are saying "no I
won't" then OK, I understand that. Tony: as per our rules, the grade is correct Tony: i will make zero concessions on something that is graded exactly to our "letter of the law" ******: I'm not trying to get one over on you here Tony, I get the impression you think I'm trying to take a shot at you guys? Tony: if i had graded it any other way, you would have a very legitimate complaint Tony: no, but when i talk to 50 customers all on livehelp asking for the same thing you're asking for

I understand his decision but really was hoping that there would be something that he could do in order for customer goodwill.... the ticket winning with a rollover requirement I thought was reasonable. I've deposited a lot on their site over the years and am ashamed to admit I've never withdrawn from them before, so I should be a model/favorite customer of theirs.

Holy crap, I guess I understand the 'grade'... but if that's the guy you have to deal with when dealing w/ customer service... I think my head would explode with a convo like that. In betting, I guess it's SCREW the customer, WE'RE always right! It just sucks that other books are awarding Miz the win while 5dimes has different terms. I'm also one of the many that got screwed by going in on Miz. Won a little... but it should have been a lot more if he hit in my parlay.

Another poster pointed out that 5dimes own rules on these events allows for an initial decision to be "revised or altered" by the ring announcer, and the bet isn't graded until a certified winner is verified by the officials at the venue. WWE themselves lists Miz as the winner. Yet the bet is graded canceled? Makes no sense to me.

of course they cancelled it. why the fuck else do you think they are allowing bets on an event with a pre-determined outcome, let alone have it be +1000 for a guy. you should have known they had that all planned out. they knew all along.

Edge was at around +450 at one time... he won.
The Miz started at around +400 or so, but he ended up closing close to EVEN. I believe it was after people saw the next PPV poster revealed that had his face on it that lead them to believe he would retain at Wrestlemania. That's the reason I bet on him late.
I think these fine lines, nonofficial calls, restarts, dq's, and everything else in WWE definitely benefit the books as they can grade wagers however they damn well please when things aren't so clear.
In the end I'm just glad I got my $ back and chalk it up as a lesson learned.

I don't think that Tony knew who was going to win. But it doesn't take much to figure who will most likely win. Hell, he could even browse the wrestling boards for a few hours and get most of the info.

That's what it sounds like, Lipps. I was just hoping to get a straightforward, legitimate ruling here and based on their own rules, I think they graded this one wrong.

The guy sounds like a complete ass, but for once this worked to my benefit. Kap, it kind of sucks to kiss up to someone and have them shit on you, doesn't it? Sorry man.

You are making educated guesses with these things. I took Miz +1000 right when it came out for pure value purposes, and even hedged right before the event by taking the other side at -120. Both were graded as canceled.
I don't want to sound conspiracy theorist or make accusation about Tony, but Miz did start around +1000 and moved to basically -120 closer to the event. That screams out to me that they had to take a ton of Miz action to move that big of an underdog basically to a pick. If Miz is graded as the winner, that could be a lot of +200 and above payouts for 5dimes. Could that be motivating their decision at all?

Yea...he was a bit less polite when talking to the first person at live help last night when it was initially marked as a cancelled bet.

Can't believe 5dimes even took action on a "fixed" event. You deserve everything you got if you bet pro wrestling.
Seriously. Every wrestler and all of their friends and families knew all the winners. All you had to do was google it. Not shocking to see them screw people over even with the slightest reason.

Yep. Same crap happened to me. Miz wager was cancelled. I know sportsinteraction and bodog were taking wagers on wrestlemania. Did anyone wager at those sites and get a different grading?
