An employee of DraftKings got caught using inside-information
from the company's datbases about lineups to win another big
contest on their partner site called FanDuel.
-Again, he took out the 2nd Place Prize of
 $350,000 into his - and fellow bosses' & co-workers' - pockets.

(Taking 2nd Places each time because 1st Place is to
be avoided so as to get no attention and not draw any suspicion)

The DraftKings employee who got caught via tweets
used the company's database information within
last week's contest to finish in 2nd place in the
"NFL Sunday Million" contest run by FanDuel.
The contest cost $25 to win $5 million in cash,
including $1 million to the winner.

A DraftKings spokesman acknowledged that employees
of both companies have earned sizable prizes playing at
each others daily fantasy sites.  

On Tuesday, FanDuel issued a statement saying employees
from both DraftKings and its sister site have temporarily
been banned from "participating in online fantasy sports
contests for money."

"We are temporarily restricting employees from
participating in DFS contests as an interim measure
while we work with the fantasy industry to develop
and implement a more formal policy," the statement said.

I agree, access to insider info the general public doesn't have access to is unfair.  This is not insider info like knowing a drug company didn't get it's major drug approved before anyone else though.

If the allegations are true, an employee found out the ownership percentages of players before the games started.  He then used these percentages to determine who he thought was a value pick, and used them on the other site where he didn't know ownership percentages and the player salaries/scoring structure were different. 

An advantage?  Sure.  Far from a sure thing like seeing a dealer's hole card or past posting though.

I've been playing fantasy for about a year now and have grinded out over $30,000, and I haven't won any prize over $1000.  I'm not going to stop playing

This isn't Wall Street and there isn't a SEC for this foolishness.This isn't  an instance of fore-knowledge of a merger or sale.This could be like an employee of the Westgate Sportsbook noticing a betting trend from their handle and going to Southpoint Sportsbook and making a wager.It's not Insider Info because the results are not known,(who knew the Lions were going to fumble on the goal line last night?)

Just heard they've started pulling ads. Thank goodness. Those things are annoying. I normally would play a contest each week. I read an article last week about sharks who do this as a job which made it sound almost impossible to win and now this. I think I'm going to sit out a bit before playing a weekly football league again.

The majority of my money goes in single entry cash games and tourneys.  Any of those multi entry tourneys are tough when the best players enter 100 times.  I play NFL,NBA,MLB,NHL,CFB,and CBB

The majority of my winnings are from NFL though

incidentally; it was ESPN who dropped DraftKings commercials, and filled it's time slots immediately, hardly do they need their fraudulent attention, or their advertising revenue.

On the surface this is comparable

But it doesn't take into account that some numbers are more likely to be drawn (better players or matchups), there is more than one number (9 or 10 players make a lineup), and one would have to determine which of these likely numbers are advantageous to replace with another number.  Yes, there is an edge to be had, but it is much more complicated and exponentially less significant than the 1 number in a thousand example.

This statement couldn't be anymore wrong. This is exactly insider information. And it's the same thing in a way as Wall Street. The outcry is that there should be a governing body like the SEC for wall street. They make investing as level and even as possible. That's what needs to be done to this industry both DFS and sports betting. Gaining ownership levels where you can eliminate a large percentage of competitors gives you a huge advantage. And to your example, the sports books post their odds and a player can see the trends and changes in lines of games. Players have no knowledge of the percentage of ppl picking certain players. That's what this whole thing is about.

This is an advantage if you know that no one has picked number 885. It's a statistical advantage, not a huge advantage but a higher probability. You have to consider variable change also if you know or have a higher probability of a number being picked or not picked. Like the movie 21 explains variable change pretty wel for the normal consumer.
