Respect to Tree and crash for keeping it respectful in a heated subject. Although Crash saying gun owners are idiots is a little off color. That said I just bought my first shotgun on Black Friday.
The Most Pro-Gun Low-Crime City in the United States
The anti-Second Amendment crowd is on the warpath again. PBS’ Bill Moyers, who served as White House Press Secretary in the Lyndon Johnson administration from 1965 to 1967, called theNRA “the enabler of death.” It seems to me that James Holmes is the Enabler of Death. 65 million other gun owners in the United States didn’t kill anybody last Thursday evening.
I live just a few miles from the most pro-gun city in the United States – Kennesaw Georgia – where gun ownership is mandatory. It’s not the “Wild West” like some people predicted when it passed a mandatory gun ownership law. “The city of Kennesaw was selected by Family Circle magazine as one of the nation’s ‘10 best towns for families.’ The award was aimed at identifying the best communities nationally that combine big-city opportunities with suburban charm, a blend of affordable housing, good jobs, top-rated public schools, wide-open spaces, and less stress. In 1982 the city passed the following ordinance [Sec 34-21] which was in response to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill.
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.
(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.
The city’s website states that Kennesaw “has the lowest crime rate in Cobb County,” one of the most populous counties in Georgia. In fact, from 1982 through 2009, Kennesaw had been nearly murder free with one murder occurring in 2007.
In a 25-year period, New York City has had more than 15,000 murders – 2245 in 1990 alone – while Kennesaw, Georgia, had 1.

Would he then go to the stadium and stab himself to death or smash a shovel over his head?

you guys missing the point.
kev almost hit the point I believe bob was shootin out.
yea he cud of killed her any way shape or form, but he wud of had to think longer and hopefully by then reality wud of kicked into his damn brain. with having a gun collection as he did, he really didn't have time to let emotions subside and thus ultimately made one horrible emotional action.
once his brain kicked in, it was too late. hence he drove to the ppl that gave him his big break in life. said his piece. then killed himself because he knew he was f'n wrong.
i own a piece of weapon. bought my glock 9 just after my 21 bday.14 yrs ago. still not sure if its right or not.
I now have a child in my home. a 7 yr old lil princess. the glock is now safely tucked away. the hollow points too. I see it as more harm then good...
crash made some valid arguments. no arguments for guns are truly correct. maybe not wrong, but not right either...

Most people don't understand the purpose of the 2nd. In 6 pages i believe its mentioned correctly once.
The 2nd is a checks and balance of power. It allows the populace to protect itself from the threat of tyranny from within and to raise militia to defend borders. Its that simple
Militia were a huge part of founding this country and were a huge part of sustaining it. To take that right away now because of a small % of idiots is stupid.

1) Bob was paraphrasing Jason Whitlock.
2) If he killed her with a baseball bat, do we try and outlaw Louisville Sluggers?
3) Whenever you hear the phrase "gun owner"-you're dealing with two different things between a hunting rifle and a Glock 9......
4) Don't own a gun. But I will defend anyone the right to own one.
5) There are many things women can do to annoy men. We've been through most of them. There can be no excuse for killing, and I'm sure we'll hear various stories come out. The ONLY one I can think of that could have pushed this guy.
3-month old baby? What if it turns out, he just found out it wasn't his? I'm not condoning it, I'm just saying I understand......

Since guns are so widespread, there is little that government can do. Gun control is limited to few places such as airplanes, prisons, stadiums, schools, etc. However cash poor governments can benefit from extracting more money from gun owners.
