I hear ya about the man angle but the problem with that is those martial arts classes give 90% of the students false confidence in that they can handle shit.
I think I am going to crane kick the next guy at the bar who starts talking shit. In the middle of his bablings, I will raise my two hands, hold the pose on one foot, then kick that bitch in the jaw!
That would be something to see
But back to reality, 90% of guys do not know how to apply what they think they have learned and end up getting hurt badly all while looking like a fool.
I am a believer in how effective knowing your stuff is but that does not apply to the average low self esteem wanna be who is trying to get tough by taking some classes.
But my vote is the glock
I think every bar should pass out handguns so any time someone wants to act tough they can just shoot the person they have a beef with instead of standing toe to toe.

Seriously, what kind of guy feels the need to ever carry a gun in public? I think there's some kind of small penix thing going on here. Just hope you never need to use it and if you do I hope you regret that act the rest of your life.
LOL

What guy would carry a gun in public? I think that depends on the individual and where they live. If I lived on Nantucket island I would have no need for one, but living in the city why not at least have one for the home?

hows your dead dog?
grown man crying over a dead dog is pretty comical to me

Perhaps you should befiend one before you die and then you will come to understand that there is nothing funny bout loosing a beloved dog, and i would guess its the same for cats. Cold to bust the dude for his loss there.

fact is the guy tried mocking me for a moment in my life that was actually traumatizing and then making me feel like an idiot.... yet he comes on here crying about a dead dog.... pretty pathetic to me for someone to do that, and a dog is a dog, it is an animal, not a human life....

Easily carried in your front pocket of shorts, jeans, or whatever.
Most importantly...whatever you get, carry it 100% of the time (when legal). You have no idea when you may need it. If you only are carrying "50%" of the time, you may live (or die) to regret it!
I also carry a Kel-Tec PF9. AGREE on you need to carry 100% of the time!

I can't imagine not crying over your dead dog. Asshole.
Thanks to all who responded. I am going to do some research on that Beretta and look again at the LCR. I have a Beretta 12 guage that I love.
posting about it on a sportsbetting forum is pretty pathetic, that is what i was getting at it.... he calls me pathetic, i call him pathetic.... It is 3rd grade all over again!

hey hutch. i buy/sell guns as a sideline business with a buddy of mine and here is what i can tell you from my point of view. you can NEVER go wrong with a glock. by far the easiest to maintain gun on the market. as far as the ruger, that is a sweet piece to be sure. i don't know how you feel about an auto as opposed to a revolver but the LCR series from ruger is selling like hell around here. can't get them fast enough.i have sent off 2 LCP with defective firing pins/mechanisms. in fairness, that was a problem when they first came out but i have not had a problem with them since. ruger is 1st rate as far as customer service. anyway, if you decide to go with the glock, take a look at the model 30. as far as bang for the buck, it is hard to beat. good luck with whatever you choose and stay safe.
vand-
Are you talking about the .38 special (LCR)? I see Ruger also makes and KLCR that can shoot a .357 round if you want.
Are you seeing the LCR's going like crazy or the KLCR's?

All right, I think I've made my decision. Read a few reviews for the LCR and also some feedback on the Bud's Gun Shop website (thanks again to StraightShooter for this recommendation as I will be purchasing the gun from them....rave reviews from users and solid pricing ). Appears to be universally accurate from 10 yards.....gets huge props for it's trigger mechanism (sounds like the double action trigger takes some getting used to, but people say it is consistently very smooth and easy to pull), super reliable, light, very easy to carry, and easy to pull. And a .38 packs more punch than a .380.

I appreciate the recommendation.

i like the small framed glocks model 26.27 or 28 but ruger makes quality firearms and i am very impressed with the company. i personally carry a glock 27 or a kimber compact 45 . i am a large man so the 45 recoil is no big deal . the glock is much easier to conceal and is very reliable. good luck. When you do decide and buy one please learn to use it safely and practice , practice , and then practice some more. just like those who rely on martial arts to protect themselves, a gun owner will only be protected if he is proficient with his weapon. know it inside and out.

I'm not real fond of the Glock. Law enforcement in GA carried them for a while but they have changed to SIGs lately. Personally, I carry a 40 Cal Baretta but I know you don't want a large weapon. I also carry a short barrel S&W 357 with rubber grips for back-up. I keep 38+P loads in it to avoid a lot of kickback. A Baretta 380 is nice but I've seen the 380 round glance off windshields. The bullet itself is just too light. Good Luck with what ever you get...........

“when a bum had a glock aimed at the back of my head asking for my wallet.... ask him how that went... and that was not because i am a "big man", it is because i learned a craft that works against these types of threats and i disarmed him....”
Yup, I’m sure Chuck Norris runs to the other side of the street to avoid you when he sees you coming, Mr. Badass.
Henry’s explanation of what really happened is much more likely:
“Okay, I just asked the bum how that went. He said you pissed your pants, you gave him your wallet and he fucked your girlfriend. He said you are confused about the meaning of "disarm.””

I really want to buy the Glock, but I've been watching some youtube videos and even with a great IWB holster, I'm just not sure how much I'd be able to carry it much in the summer. And I'd hate to have a gun that I'd ever hesitate to carry due to size. At the same time, the LCR will not be as accurate as the Glock. I'm obviously leaning toward a gun that I will always be able to carry. I've seen clips that it is more accurate than you might think for the barrel length.
And I expect to practice a LOT. I got a little nervous when we did the shooting portion of the concealed carry course (everyone was watching). I was still plenty accurate, but if you're ever in a situtaion where you have to pull your gun for real, the stress will be off the charts. If you're not completely comfortable and very proficient with pulling and firing your gun, you have no chance.
Thanks again for everyone's input. Local gun shop has both the Glock and the LCR. Gonna look at them both this week and then order from Bud's.
