I had them in my "go away" thread.................play nothing but girl teams, and you're coached by a man.....................go away
I wonder why the coach wants to be King of the minor leagues?

If you told me a guy in high school baseball hit the triple crown for his state 3 years in a row I would say that was impressive. However it would not compare to a major leaguer doing it once.
Finally, if I ever tell my grandson I witnessed something like this, I hope he give me a confused look and then kicks me straight in the nuts.

Congrats to them.........they have a record FOR WOMEN'S SPORTS.
Auriemma's comments were pompous, arrogant, & presumptuous. Good for him & his team but I don't recognize their accomplishment as breaking any record............it's an apples to oranges comparison.......&, quite frankly, if I were a member of that UCLA squad I'd be insulted that this clown is even mentioning them in the same breath. That's right Geno..........line your gals up against what's left of the early 70's UCLA team & they'd kick your ass

I absolutely agree.

I agree with all of that. There's just not enough depth of competiion to take this seriously. Auriemma should have taken the high road, or at least a higher road. Instead, he made us hate them eve more.
It's a nice accomplishment, but it doesn't approach UCLA's. Frankly, I think Penn State's Volleyball team winning four straight national titles is more imporessive. There are probably 10-15 women's VB sqauds with legitimate chances to win the title most years. In WBB, there might be three - and in recent years, basically one. In a sport where the are not a great number of elite players nationally, if you can stockpile most of them, you're going to win. UConn has done that, and basically wrecked the sport in the process. The UNC women's soccer team used to face a similar equation, until the level of talent nationally imporoved and leveled the playing field.

The playing field was leveled partly because Anson Dorrance was no longer the USA national team coach. He was able to recruit the best talent for so long because he offered them preferred positions on the national team. once they stopped allowing him to do that, things evened out a little bit. But still, UNC women's Soccer is pretty dominant

That's right. They are now, basically, where the UCLA BB team was years ago - many of the best players, but not all of them. UConn WBB, is bascially the Globetrotters, with everyone else playing the role of the Washington Generals.
