My First Interaction With A Transgender Person

 It's interesting to me how a brief encounter with someone in transition can generate so many different comments. I agree we are just nudging the tip of the iceberg here but it's great to hear the different opinions.

And still, there seems to be so much hatred of these folks which I just don't understand. Ignorance & fear are 2 reasons that come to mind immediately.

Everyone in life deserves to be happy, and comfortable within their own.  As far as the hatred, I would like to think it is sometimes misread as non-understanding.  Sometimes questions relating to a transition could easily be offensive to the one going through it or to friends and family. 

As far as Fear, when the unconventional takes over the conventional.... or in Lamens terms when the ultra libs take over the conservatives on stuff like this it is easily viewed as fear/ hatred by the Dems and a lot of conservatives are religious people who believe man and woman, not interchangeable. 

I does not help that this society lately thinks every republican is a MAGA and every Dem is an Ultra Lib.  there are a lot of moderate people on both sides and the Media doesn't help for either party. 

This is just one subject of what I hear from on both sides as I fall independent.  Have to hear both sides to vote cause no side is worth loyalty and read between the lines because everyone has their own agenda

I worked in the chemical dependency field for over 5 years and I don’t know if it’s just my perception but it seems to me that there are a lot of trans and gays working in that field. 

Everyone I worked with was great, except for this one particular person. She was a new hire. And my supervisor. She was a C U next Tuesday. She was probably the President of the C U Next Tuesday Company.

They're all former addicts themselves.

 According to the Williams Institute, 1.4 million adults identify as transgender in the USA.  Calculating the percentage of the population of people that identify as transgender is difficult since surveys that respondents voluntarily take are the only way to collect this data.

I read an article about this by a lawyer/consultant named Chris Mortiz, who was trying to follow the money in this to connect big pharma.  Not sure how exactly he calculated that number but there are several published and peer-reviewed studies on various aspects of transgender care.  It could also be calculated using a combination of insurance data, federal and state data.  

Just learned of a new documentary named Will & Harper created by Will Ferrell.

He recently learned that his buddy of 30 years came out as transgender. He was ignorant of the transition process & wanted to know more. Ferrell met his buddy when they both worked on SNL & she came out in 2022.

They decided to make a cross country trip & learned how they both were transitioning in their continued friendship. It will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival & there is no release date.

I think it's great that a well known figure in entertainment would take the time to further educate us on the topic.
