Here is an example of why morals are without a shadow of a doubt, relative.
When testing a hypothesis, what is it you are trying to do? Your goal is to disprove it. You hope to fail, thus proving your hypothesis correct. All it takes is one instance to prove your hypothesis wrong. If the desired outcome does not happen even one time, your hypothesis is wrong.
Morals are absolute. Does a scenario exist where two people can have directly opposing viewpoints and both be valid? Yes. This is undeniable. Therefore, morals are not absolute. You can try to create as specific of a scenario as you want, as long as it is conceivable that someone could think what was done is right, then it is not absolute.
I feel like I haven't adequately explained why, so I will now. Each person has their own set of morals. My morals vary from yours. What I would do in certain situations may be different from what you do. The same way you can't tell me what I should enjoy doing, you can't tell me what is absolutely right or absolutely wrong. Morals are reserved to the individual to decide on. I decide what I think is right and wrong and I act accordingly. Since we live in a society that has laws based on morality, I must also take those into account if I want to be a part of this society. Therefore, I may have to place the perceived morals of society above my own at times in order to coexist peacefully. What society thinks matters, whether you or I agree or not. At any point, society could change what it thinks. For years, it was ok for blacks and women to not be allowed to vote. Society has since changed its views as have the people as a whole. Things change. Morals change. Circumstance affects what the right and wrong thing to do is. Morals cannot possibly be absolute because it is impossible to say that one act is wrong in every single instance.
Lets play your game....
Last night what the man did last night at the screening, good on him, sucked in to the families who got affected. Serves them right......NOW, while you say to me that i am wrong, THIS IS NO DIFFERENT AT ALL to me saying that Sarah Jessica Parker is better looking than Kate Upton, NONE at all.....While the more popular opinion is that Kate Upton is better looking than SJP (much like popular opinion is that what that guy did was wrong) IT DOESNT MEAN i am wrong under the world of atheism....
I noticed their was a thread made about the shootings last night...
I will bet you anything you like, anything you like, if i entered that thread randomly and said "suck shit to the families of the effected and i really liked what that guy did, good on him"........I gurantee you, anything you like, i will create so much anger, hatred and i bet you i will get this account suspended.....
Would i get the same response if i said said SJP is better looking than Kate Upton? Would i get the same response if i said drinking raw eggs tastes better than Black forrest chocolate cake? WOuld my account be suspended if i made those remarks?
After all, Its all subjective opinion.......
The problems of atheism,....
