Watching the LLWS on ESPN & surfin on the other. Came across one of the best characters in movies, Captain Quint in JAWS.
"I'll find him for three but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.”

Glad to see Dan Le Batard tell ex-athletes they need to use less words to explain their stance/reporting on the sports world. He used Emmanuel Acho as an example.
These new "stars" or wannabe stars are ridiculously argumentative, take extreme stances, promise inside info but rarely produce the goods. Le Batard is controversial in some of his reporting but I don't think this is sour grapes. People like Bayless & Sharp have proven this is a winning & are compensated accordingly.
Hope Brady is as good as Romo was when he first started.

Danny Jansen will become the first player to play for both teams in one MLB game when the Red Sox resume a game against his old team, the Blue Jays, on Monday.
The game was suspended when he was hitting, so he will catch against his own pinch-hitter.
This will soon become a barroom sports trivia question. AND..
If he had 2 strikes at the time of the delay and his pinch hitter struck out, he would be credited as both striking out and receiving the put-out on the same play.
That means he’ll also be the first player to both bat and catch in the same AB.
Now this could be a record never broken.
Freaky stuff, huh?

We recently lost our 18 year old cat Samantha & my wife had to cancel a food order from SMALLS. Today we received 3 small plants from SMALLS in memory of Samantha. How cool is that even though it made my wife cry. WOW..a company with a heart!
That is awesome - what a thoughtful thing for them to do. Sorry for the loss of your cat - losing pets is one of the hardest things to deal with.

I've heard the term used in here..."snitchers get stitches" & I couldn't disagree more.
I've from the school of "see something, say something."
My grandkids are coming over Sunday for the Dolphin game & I'm sitting down with my kids to make sure their kids understand the right thing to do. See something, say something.
You may want to do the same thing. We gotta start somewhere. Why not our own homes.
BTW..the Mahomes/Kelce connection is unreal.

An old high school teacher of mine recently passed. She used to smack me in the mouth with a thick plastic ruler. Just a horrible old biddy. If we farted she'd make us go to the school nurse and tell her that we cannot control our bowels. It was very embarrassing. I feel really ashamed of myself for not being unhappy that she croaked. Does that make me a bad person? I guess maybe it does. Anyhoo, just had that on my mind a lot lately and felt like sharing. This is the cowboy, Carl Lee Spat. Good luck to everyone on their wagers this weekend! Giddy Up!

What a horrible teacher! Don't feel bad about not feeling it when she died, she didn't earn any sympathy.

So I won 1k on a $50 scratch off in the Florida Lottery. Regular dealers where you buy tickets can only cash up to 6 hundy. I got online to see the closest lottery office to me. None in Broward County & none in Dade County. WTF?
We're talking over 4 million people in these two counties & they don't think any of us will ever win over 600 bucks? So I gotta go to WPB. It's less than 40 miles away but I couldn't believe they didn't have an office in South Florida. Maybe they can put my name on a big check & I can get a pic.

I could use the mail or FedEx but I've lost faith in our ability to handle simple transactions like getting the mail delivered as well as thieves everywhere which brings me to this point.
If I'm a thief why wouldn't I park my ass near the Lottery office & just pick the easiest person to rob once they come out?
Nah, I doubt they give you cash.
I've been capping the ponies & college football most of the day & my mind is racing.
Gonna settle down & watch Illinois/Nebraska & Bering Sea Gold with the boss.

Looking at the main post, I always feel that death is not really scary. A limited period of death may make people cherish time more and help family and friends understand some truths. In short, birth, aging, illness, and death are all very common things, but when they happen to people you know, it can make you feel very sad.
Salute from Veteran.

Went out this morning with a friend to catch some live bait for fishing later this week. It's not easy to learn how to cast a net properly & my buddy is an expert. After 3 casts we had enough mullet to put into the live well at my dock. So he told me a story about his daughter who works for a relatively large well known company in South Florida. Within a week she had received 2 emails at work.
The 1st email was from HR asking her to participate in an anonymous survey regarding improvements that should be made at the facility.
A week later she received an email from her boss reminding her to fill out the anonymous survey request because she was the only one from his department that didn't fulfill the request.
WTF?
Who can you trust anymore?

Hello, my friend. Politically I am an Independent. If I see or hear something that I find humorous it always gets passed along. Hope all is well with you!

Life is good Freddie. Hope all is well with you in Vegas. Looks like we're going to escape another hurricane in South Florida but the Panhandle is going to get clobbered. The poor folks in Cedar Key are going to get hit again.

We've driven by Mar A Lardo years ago but now you can't even get close. At times they close the bridge to the ocean which pisses off many of the uber rich folks in Palm Beach.
I've been taking notes on the "Win & Your In" races leading up to the BC races & there should be some great wagering opportunities. I posted a gelding in the Horse Forum named Winston Wolf that's racing tonight @ Churchill in Race 7. I love the Tom Amoss/Maggi Moss connection & this horse has been scratched twice in a row. My thinking is that Amoss has been looking for an easier spot for him. ML is 3-1 but I'm not sure we'll get that.
I absolutely love Keenland. It's beautiful & I think their clubhouse is one of the finest in the country. Have fun & be safe!
I cashed the scratch off ticket Tuesday & it's the most I've won on these tickets. There was 1 other guy there cashing a ticket when I arrived & the place had like 50 seats available in the place. The agent said they had 40 people cash tickets over 6 hundy on Monday & the wait was about 40 minutes. Surprisingly they are pretty efficient. They have a security guard at the door who gives you a # like at a deli counter & a clipboard with a form attached for your personal info. They call your #, you go to the window with the form & your driver license ID. In about 10 minutes they produce a check & you're out of there. The chic who waited on me was pretty cute & she said "hope to cu again, sir." I told here "yeah, me too!" It was a cool experience. When I went to the bank to deposit it, the clerk said they had never seen a Florida Lottery check before & were showing it to each other.
