Victor Espinosa down played his own role in the race. However, his tactics were masterful. He waited for just the right second to pass the first tier, which, then, quickly fell apart.
It was at this time when the mid-packers started to break down allowing Commanding Curve and Wicked to move up.
That's the best analysis of the race I heard all day!

I'm that sure CC won't win the Preakness, his own trainer the human that knows him best has doubts and that's enough for me not to back this horse at what I'm sure will be less the even money.

I will get on a plane and give you my bet personally orI will Fedex it Monday ! 5-1 ? Oh, you guys are amazing ! When a trainer touts his horse, you criticize me, when he is honest, you guys think he is telling the truth

When trainers show concern it's usually not bs, just look at Peter Eurton's comments on Dance With Fate after the Bluegrass about what he thought about running in the Derby. Also Pletchers comments after the way We Miss Artie's last work went. Jerkens comments and concerns on WS post draw which ultimately was his undoing.
Trainers usually just show confidence all the time bc why wouldn't they?? When they show any bit of concern is probably when you should be paying attention

Angry, if you are that confident, you are setting yourself up for a score of a lifetime. CC is be 2-5 at the highest and you can make a killing. I am on the other side of that trade for sure.

I hit an exact box in the Derby for $! ( $170) , not great bu hey it's a win .. I had Medal Count on top , with CC, Com Curve and Uncle Sigh .. Reading all the comments and I really don't think CC should run in the Preakness. Trust the trainer's words and even the Jock said CC was tiring at the end .
I know I'm nuts but I will be betting against the 4/5 favorite in the Preakness in CC in hoping a long shot beats him ..
Good luck CC fans , believe I would like to be wrong here and see a Triple Crown winner !!!

This is an article regarding possible Preakness starters, and that the speed figure may be changed bc of track circumstances. Stating a possible reason was bc there was so long of a wait between dirt races. I though that was the case every year as the Woodford is always before the Derby and then there is a long wait. But I guess we'll see

First they said it was the wind, now they're blaming the track for the slow time. I've never heard so much fuss after a race about conditions. And why would Churchill decide this year to change the way they take care of track between races? Just sounds weird to me

It was interesting reading that if the number was correct, I think like 15 of the horses would have had a regression and only Curve had an improvement.
Anyway, did you see Ride On Curlin's comments? If the jockey listens to me, we win the Preakness.
There is my cheer against horse now.

c'mon ANGRY, does the "figure" really matter at this point (ala... Hillary Clinton") the horse did ENOUGH to EASILY "win" the race without bringing his "A" game... That burst "of foot" at top of the stretch easily put CC on "cruise" down the stretch..If I'm Victor why not "take him off the gas".....rewatch the race, he is clearly the best...my only concern for Horse of the Year is that damn Biatchhhh..UNTAPABLE, hopefully they DON"T have to face each other except in a breeding shed...might be LOVE at first sight..
CC could have run a monster BEYER but why bother.... If I'm Art Sherman, I find a nice quiet cozy training place until heading over to Baltimore...then onto New York for a bonafiede TRIPLE CROWN ATTEMPT
thanx for all your Horse racing input...it is invaluable

No it doesn't matter, the race still ran to form. They all had to run on it and The top 3 betting choices ran 1-3-4. That's exactly my point. Why are they making such a big deal over it!?!?

Let me start off by saying That I think CC was and is the best horse but I did not like his price and was trying to beat him. As a comparison Wise Dan ran a 94 in his race and he was all out to win his race. I know that it was a different surface and less runners but I thought his number should have been higher also. Say whatever you want but CC was geared down the final 70 yards. Two weeks is a lot to ask but if he gets a similar trip in the Preakness it will be the same outcome. Just my 2 cents.
