OK so I have done major research on this stock and now I am kicking myself for not getting in at $3.50 as I am a little worried about buying at at $5.32.
There were 130 million short stocks. This means that in the short term people have been betting against the stock and have been making a lot of money doing so. Because there are so many shorts, they in essence can control the price of the stock unless something amazing happens to the stock itself. The reason why the stock went down so low is that it was manipulated down so that 10 million short stocks could be sold. That drove the price up to $7 + and that was a test by the shorts to get out of the stock by almost 10% of their shares. The next time they try that , it should break $10. The problem is, it could keep going down before that happens. If you are a long holder like Louis, you have to deal with these ups and downs while the shorts make money. Now the shorts are probably all hedged with calls so that if the stock goes up, they are hopefully protected in their minds from not losing much.
Here is another problem, mankind made a deal with Sanofi . Sanofi has not delivered. They were supposed to market this product and have done a crap job at it. Why ? Because Sanofi owns a lot of diabetic drugs already and could have alterior motives.
Two things are happening here. Either Sanofi and Mankind are just going at a slow place or Sanofi is sabotaging Mankind and trying to bankrupt them by not doing the proper job. Sanofi might be trying to buyout Mankind and then launch the product properly and make multi billions because guess what people, this is the best insulin product available on the planet today period. I have read so many accounts, it works. Doctors are not prescribing it yet because insurance companies are not on board yet but in the end, the doctors can control the outcome of this stock. If they start to prescribe it, there is nothing nobody can do to stop this stock from climbing.
If we get a combo of doctors and sanofi both on board, this stock will make people millionaires like Louis.
The shorts wont be able to stop what will happen even though they are corrupt and control the stockmarket in essence if this takes place.
This drug Afrezza is revolutionary. The founder Al Mann is an incredible person and just doesn't fail in all his past inventions. He is 90 years old and has a lot of influence but if he dies before this stock takes off, that could be another problem in my opinion.
So we have the corrupt world and all the negative (paid off) journalists and guys like CRAMER bashing the stock when either they are just buying in to drive it down and make money or the drug companies that have all the other diabetic drugs are corrupting them with cash to destroy the company mankind.
Mankind has a bad management team in my opinion as well. Another negative point.
I am either going to buy 10000 shares on Monday and go all in for me or just hold off. This stock could take 2 years to go up but if everything goes right, it will hit $20-$50 and possibly $100 5-10 years from now.
The choice is yours, do your research and you will be shocked at all the info you get. This drug can save lives and it still isn't even known to most diabetics because there is no marketing of it yet. All Sanofi did so far is put it in a magazine ??? They are apparently supposed to start a marketing campaign but there are also rumours that they have set up 800 dinner conferences with doctors. Could it be regarding Afrezza or not ? Nobody knows.
Good luck to you all.
good write up. One comment I would have is that I BELIEVE this whole could we say delayed marketing is purposeful. It was a slow launch, to get information back to Sanofi from docs in order to be prepared for the DTC that you mentioned is underway effective July 15'. The DTC we have heard from Matt at MNKD will be in print more then commercials on TV, once again getting the word out gradually. Social media has been huge and what we have seen recently in users is incredible.
This is a great post around Superiority, something Al basically stated the knew was happening during trials but could not get the FDA to add to label. The user base has been echoing this for months now. Many have stated they have never seen anything like it. This study will help.
Here is another story posted the other day on Yahoo around an experience a gentlemen had with some folks fron Sanofi around Insurance, etc. Once again a reason a slower launch is better to get all this stuff ironed out.
Also, need MNKD lines 2 and 3 at full strength and approved, which should be soon. Need to be able to have this stuff available for users when they all ask for it.

One more post I want to share, not sure where I read this, could have been Yahoo or MNKD Proboards. Its not mine but I have it saved down on my computer so on sh it days I can refer back to it and feel good about my investment.
"Some say a good stock should
only go up; some have held that Afrezza scripts in the first few months should
be the test of the drugs success, but I have found that these are not the way
to think about it.
All stocks have volatility, including up and
down days. Even the biggest all time stock, AAPL has large moves down. You need
to accept that many vector forces impinge on all stock prices and they do not
follow normal logic much of the time. Don't over think the down moves.
The decision I made is based on a careful review
of Al Mann, as much as I could find out about him. I conclude that he is one of
those that belong in the same breathe with Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. Afrezza
may prove to be his most successful and famous invention yet. He certainly thought
so. I am aligning myself with him.
But I would never do that without a full court
press research job on the disease of diabetes and the way that Afrezza
addresses it. I have spent months finding out that this is a terrible disease
and a fast growing one. It even bears a tight relation with Alzheimer, which
some call diabetes type 3.
What needs to be understood and appreciated is
that there are several insulins and non insulin products already addressing
this space and selling big. This is not a virgin opportunity and the politics
of diabetes drugs is tied in part to the large money that is at stake as one
drug displaces part of the market for another, or knocks it out.
The short position is probably connected in part
to the competitive role that Afrezza will play and the loss of position that
some drugs will suffer as Afrezza comes into play.
You are probably right in identifying sales as
perhaps the most important factor that will stop the shorting. I say, myself,
that it will be the doctors that put Afrezza to use for those that can benefit.
But waiting for those doctors is not, in my opinion, a failure of MNKD or SNY,
it is a process that must occur, and it is underway. It will happen!"

Louis thanks for all the info and the posts. August will be a big month. Rxs are going up, nice upward movement with print ads starting 7/1. Note should be payed off in August. Sanofi has set up 800 conference dinners across the U.S. Twitter and Youtube many positive reports on Afrezza. I never seen so many diabetes commercials on TV, think NOVO is worried? BULLISH on MNKD

"Most small development stage pharma would kill for what MNKD has already achieved. The FDA approval is like winning the triple crown. The odds are greatly stacked against any drug starting out in phase 1, and to persist and get through the phase 3 is all that most can handle for usually $1B. But MNKD had to go through three rounds of FDA scrutiny to finally gain the coveted approval and the extra time and $1.8 B of expense. It seems there are powerful forces that MNKD had to confront, and Al Mann is no spring chicken. But they did it!
Then the search for a partner that could handle the marketing and distribution. SNY is the best match they chould have found with its detailed knowledge of insulin and experience in selling insulin successfully to the medical community. The stage could not be better set for the next step, which is the successful product launch.
Now, we are 5 months into the product launch and much has been accomplished. The product has been introduced to rave reviews by some of the early adopters and the physical education campaign is well under way. This is not something that will happen in a blink but it will roll out steadily as long as there are patients that will discover and benefit from Afrezza. The trajectory of new adoption is unknown but it is not entirely uncertain. They will go through the steps and those patients that can use Afrezza will find it and use it, just like water seeks its own level. In the end, MNKD will have a successful launch because SNY is competent and the product is good.
How fast that will enfold is the only mystery, IMO. But the heavy lifting has been done, and this is just about as good a biotech investment as you could want. The large short selling, notwithstanding, the opportunity is only that much better because a successful launch will include a short squeeze of some magnitude. Meantime some of the longs are being paid by the shorts for the privilege of shorting, which makes this one crazy launch for shorts"

OK Mr Louis, I am now a shareholder 5000 shares today at $5.07. I have 5000 more I want to buy but couldn't pull the trigger. If stock goes back to low $4's I will buy 5000 more , if it goes up I just stay with what I have and enjoy the long ride towards retirement ! This will hit $20-$30 but I think will take 1-2 years and I am fine with that. Biggest investment I have personally ever made in stocks but I have been researching this for months. Good luck to us all !! Lets hope tommorrows script numbers are good.
Today I read a few more things. Costco has announced coupons for Afrezza buyers and there are some new ads out but nothing on TV yet, just minor ads. This will be a slow climb but with some big days ahead.
Great discussion in here.

That said w/ manipulation could go lower. Been holding awhile. All games. I'll be here when we hit 50+ or we go to 0 (doubtful). This is my personal life style game changer inv.
Al Mann never has put his name on any co., This is his legacy.

If it gets $4-$4.50 due to the shorts Im in for another 5000 shares because it will def go back up to $6-$7 shorterm and I would cash out those profits and maintain the original 5000 shares. Stock is up so far this morning with just OK script numbers but there are a lot of new ads, tweets all over the place. I think a run is inevitable

Big News! Aetna has made this drug a tier 2 which means a lot more scripts will be written in upcoming months since people can actually get insurance coverage easier now. Also, it is important to note that another 5 million short sales were covered. I was hoping stock would go up more on that alone but it didn't but short stocks are now down to 115million from 130 million. It looks like the shorts are going to slowly go away and that only means big things for this stock. Now at $5.40 and hopefully over $6 this week. We are also seeing more ads come out but again nothing major. This is a very slow launch by Sanofi and I don't think they are looking to sabotage anymore. The fact they worked hard to get this to a 2 Tier drug with a major insurance company is huge. We still have the option of a buyout since I find it strange that Al has put up the headquarters for sale in California. This would be a major tax save if he sells so I am keeping a close eye on that too.

It may drop below $4 but I don't care because then the shorts will cover 10 million shares and price will go above $7. This stock is all about manipulation BUT when some good news comes eventually it will go over $20 and I just hope I have shares in hand when that happens as I will sell on the jumps and buy on the dips.

I dont think you understand what this is, it has nothing to do with someone wanting shares, it has to do with the company needing to deal with a massive convertible debt payment coming due..

Oh really?

Yes, they dealt with what was coming due likely the best they could but from the way I read it much of it will be rights to shares over the next 10 days which I'm sure will be at a pretty price. They could have took cash versus shares and the fact they took shares is a positive in my view. They feel they can make money on them at the conversion price.
Once Sanofi decides their done milking this price and start actually trying to move the product all will be better off. I think MNKD is sandbagging as well, helped in this debt deal for them to restrict price movement.
The Earnings calls usually suck if your LONG so will see. They may have got another milestone payment in w/ the lines being approved fro Production they announced the other day. I'd love to hear some progress on TS applications and partners but I', sure we wont as mnkd tells you only what they have too.

I posted an email exchange I had w/ Matt (CFO) at MNKD on the Mannkind Proboards site. Discussed managements inability to preserve shareholder value. Sounds like he addressed today. My name on Yahoo/Probaords is Blackjackaces if you want to see it.
Things are moving along, likely one of the best calls by this group I've heard in years. SP moving a bit as result.

LONG 27,000 shares.
I really liked the call today.
