Fuck that. If it's a girl working at the counter I'd just invite her up to my room when she gets off work. She'd give me the best fucking spot in the whole place if I did that.

You just reminded me of what my friend that lives in Vegas does. He will Prick his finger and put a drop of blood on the pillowcase or put a hair on his pillow and go down and complain. He gets a suite everytime!

 The sandwich still works! It also depends on when you're going though. I stayed at the Aria last year for March Madness and my room was $99 on wed $99 on Thur. and $109 for Fri. The sandwich did not work because the lady told me I already had a fantastic deal for that week.

I just got back from the Wynn today...stayed Thursday thru Sunday.  I slipped a $50 between my credit card and ID and asked for a comp upgrade.  The lady at the counter said "you booked a standard room...let me see what I can do for you.." and she took the $50 and set it on the counter.  I didn't know whether to take it back or leave it...I left it there.  The $50 sat on the counter for 5 minutes as I checked in and I did end up with a GREAT view. Was on the 59th floor overlooking the strip, I don't think the room was any better than a standard room but the view was well worth the $50 for me and my wife.  Not to mention we also were not more than 20 feet from the elevators whereas some rooms were as far as a couple hundred feet.

Heading down again in a couple weeks. Staying at ballys this time and will use he 20$ trick again. It sounds like they have one great suites offered

  I know tipping is a common practice to get what you want in Vegas, but is this "$20 trick" a practice hotel managers would approve of? When you take into consideration the rule-by-fear way many companies are run these days, I think a clerk might be putting his or her job at risk when taking it upon themselves to pass out an upgrade for what amounts to accepting a $20 bribe.

   So what's next, using the "$20 trick" on a Vegas ticket counter rep to try and get into first class or to get an emergency row seat on a plane?

I was in vegas in febuary. My buddy did it at flamingo it worked but it wasn't 20 dollars it was 40.

I did this at Planet Hollywood just last weekend and it worked like a charm. Got a room next to the elevator and a postcard view of the strip right outside my window.
